Among other things this creates 40-man challenges... they now have two injured pitchers taking up 40-man spots (Roby and Robberse), with Hjerpe needing to be added as well.
Move Roby to the 60 day IL?
There is no 60 day IL in the offseason. We’re heading towards lots of roster attrition in the r offseason.

Yet I just had someone listing him in a debate as one of Mo's prized gets in the 2023 sell-off.

Now even more reason to trade for some starting pitchers. Donovan and Helsley might get that in return.

Do you think Roby can bounce back quickly and still win the Cy Young this season? He’s that good I hear.

I dont think we really have to worry about 40 man given our state of affairs
11 fairly easy removals and I doubt we get 11 better players. Possibly Arenado, Gray, Romero if we find takers. Fermin could go. Zach Thompson?
Mikolas, Matz
Helsely, Maton
King, Roycroft, Munoz,
Luken Baker, Hampson
Siani, Koperniak.

The following players have to be address to the 40-man roster or could be lost to the Rule 5 draft: Jimmy Crooks, Leonardo Bernal, Cooper Hjerpe, Nathan Church, Joshua Baez, Max Rajcic and Brycen Mautz.
A lot could change this week with the trade deadline as well. We might trade away players on the 40-man but we could also add players who will have to be added to the 40-man roster.

Doyle in my opinion will be an ELITE closer.
He can't carry that velo over 5-6 innings against MLB hitters.
Ok.
Even though he’s carried that velo through 100 pitches in college. Got it Savant! lol
Is there a mysterious juju than an MLB hitter has over an NCAA batter has that magically reduces extended velo? Do enlighten.

So even the trade we thought was good is still pending in the Monty trade
Roby will be 26ish by the time he is healed and developed in the minors
Saggese has shown flashes, but still a lot to prove
King overall has been serviceable, I think
Moe is trash
The trade was lame. Saggesse is a Jag. Roby is an injured bust. Bloom has to find other ways to improve this franchise besides trading vets for lotto tickets like this that give us 0 WAR.

Once again, Shady and his "sources" nailed it:

Hoping Roby comes off the 7-day injured list tomorrow for Memphis.
I heard that, right now, Roby's injury doesn't appear to be serious. Good news for Roby and the organization.

He thought that 7 day injured list means a player is only out for 7 days.

Kinda early to decide Saggese's fate when he's had 140 PAs, totally inconsistent PT, and just turned 23 this season.

I'm not sure it is that big of deal that the FO did not break the news immediately......there is only a handful of Cards fans that would know who Roby is. The people on this board and then maybe just a few more.

Not sure what a Jag is(probably because I'm old) but Saggese could be a decent player or he could be a bust. Only time will tell. As for Roby.....I've noticed the past few years that pitchers with good stuff(which includes Roby) seem to come back from TJ even better than before. Still a few years before we can make an honest evaluation of that trade. One other note.....last I looked Monty was getting hammered.

I honestly DON’T know the ins and outs of the 40 man roster rules.
I know there is a 60 day-IL.
And since he was already on the 40 man roster I would think they can just transfer him there?(as they did with Thompson).
