Well right now he isnt even on the 40 man roster so there is no reason to release him. He will have to be added on the offseason or exposed to the rule 5 draft. They may expose him or we may add him to 40 man just as our minor league depth option cuz fermin is out of options next year so we might be releasing him since he cant be stashed in minors and thus might need another 40man infielder

Still think you're wrong on Saggese. He just needs some time. He is a natural hitter. Sporadic playing time on the bench in STL isn't going to cut it. (Although, the Cards screwed him tol when he was raking in his first callup this season, only to immediately be shipped back. This organization blows!!!!)
Prieto hits as well, but don't think he has as much power upside. ... Although sometimes I think I'd take a team of guys who can just hit, regardless of power potential!!
Small sample size of 143 ML PA's but .228 .259 .331 .590 gives me little hope he'll be anything more than a last guy on the bench player at best (re: J.A.G.).
Prieto same, J.A.G.
He has to play. Sitting him on the bench is ANOTHER example that they have NO CLUE how to handle young players. Masyn Winn is about the only one who was handled correctly.
Saggese is a baseball rat, a la Matt Carp. He is a natural hitter and a good ball player. He has the work ethic. He has the ability. He needs to be allowed to continue to develop. Will Cards do that? That's questionable!
Winn - SS
JJW - 2B
Donny - SUP
Aside from showing nothing offensively he has no position here for the next ten+ years.
Sorry C4L but to me he's J.A.G.
Agree, we will have a lot of positional jam with Winn, Saggese, Gorman, Donovan, JJ, etc. Cards have to figure that out.
Problem is, out of that bunch Gorman is really the only one who profiles the needed 3B power, but we've seen how good he is.![]()
I think JJ, Saggese, and Donovan are all better suited for 2B. So who knows?
I might be wrong on Saggese, but if I am, I think it will be almost 100% the fault of how he is handled by this lousy organization.
Although I still think every team needs a utility guy that can get regular starts all over the place.
Especially if they were to deal Donny (highly unlikely unless they're overwhelmed).
