Donovan is going to be 30 at the end of his current deal…..

At his age, he’s probably going to get only one shot at a big bucks free agent deal….

Doesn’t mean he won’t end up in Stl…..but giving it a shot is the best business move…

A lot can happen - and he knows that.
His best time to discuss an extension is right now.
Best for the team as well.
Mutually beneficial opportunity.
It would be a grievous mistake to not have the conversation.
Maybe an agreement is reached.

But it would be idiocy to trade him before making a serious effort to extend.
