He’s a very fine defensive third baseman. Probably as good or better than Arenado at this stage.
Better bat.
Better glove.
Cheaper contract.
Younger.
Healthier.
LH bat.
Yankees made the right choice in prioritizing McMahon over N/A.
Exactly as I analyzed in a prior thread previous to the trade.

McMahon does not play a better 3B than Arenado. He hits for more power right now but K's a ton.
Arenado does not whiff and puts the ball in play. Whatever is going on with his shoulder has sapped him of any power.
The contracts are a wash once you add the $5M that the Rockies kick back for Arenado in 2026. McMahon will only make $4M less than Nado over the next 2 years.
He is LH. But the Yankees were looking for a RH bat.
Here's the thing. McMahon also plays a decent 2B. The Yankees are butchering their infield defense these days. McMahon can help at 2B and 3B.
The Yankees are still in on a RH bat at 3B before the deadline. But don't get your hopes up. That bat is Eugenio Suarez.

Y’all forgetting one thing: Arenado doesn’t want to go to New York.

He is not better than Arenado defensively. That is just a false statement.

More depth here, plus a look at prospects going to the Rox.

At this point, Arenado is low hangin fruit.

Arenado has been a good player for long time.
Understandable the loyalty some have to him.
But I am free of bias and free of agenda in all things.
Look at defensive metrics for last year and this year.
McMahon is rated at the superior glove.
That is the reality.

I just read Colorado is promoting Warming Bernabel to take McMahon's spot so at minimum the Rockies win on the new name.

Judge to DH. McMahon to 2B. Chisholm to OF.
3B... open. Pencil in a trade for Suarez. But see if they bite on Nado in a pinch. Yes, it's a long shot.

Its official. Judge to the IL. Will DH when he gets back. They think Stanton will play OF.
Talking to myself here, but waiting to see them pick up a 3B who can field and hit. Then McMahon to 2B as above.
