Looks like the Yanks are acquiring Ryan McMahon for 3B. One less team and it will be harder and harder to trade Arenado.
He has no market and does not want to leave. He is an older higher paid version of McMahon. Really not a topic any longer. He Contreras Gray and Donovan will be here. Helsley is the trade to monitor
Not trading Donovan is just more malpractice from Mo. Hopefully Bloom will remedy in the offseason.
They may just have to DFA Arenado at this point. He’s truly a dumb[ash] for decking the Astro deal
Last I heard they are still trying to extend Donovan. He’s a core peice in the clubhouse apparently
I know, and it’s dumb. I like Donnie but we have a (seemingly) better replacement and he has a lot of value.
That's heresy on CT. Trading Hurdy...suggest trading Winn and they say you hate the player
Cardinals may have better chance to move Arenado after the season. After seeing what players the Cardinals sent away at the trade deadline and where the team finished at the end of the year , Arenado may be more conducive to leaving St. Louis .
We also don't know if there was any personal animosity between Nado and Mo that never became public .
With Mo gone, Nado may be more likely to work with Bloom. Just a thought Accept a trade at the Winter Meetings Dec. 2025

NYY was really the only viable spot left. Now that's gone. Don't expect any new landing spots to emerge this offseason either.
Maybe Houston revisits with Paredes hurt, but I doubt it.
What if we package/bundle Nado and Helsley together and ask for a box of #2 scorecard pencils in return. But here’s the kicker. We send no cash in the deal.
Maybe I’m missing something but McMahon is owed $1 million more than Nado in the next two years. And hasn’t had an ops+ over 100 in year, playing in coors!! Imo Nado has just as much trade value as McMahon. Just that (bleep) NTC and even more trade value if we are some salary.

A lot of this!! McMahon is owed a similar amount for the next two years and McMahon isn’t the defender that Arenado is. Arenado just doesn’t want to leave here. Hayes from Pittsburgh is mentioned as available but who would want him and his contract. We should just forget about Arenado being traded because he doesn’t want to be traded. Even if Arenado wanted to be traded what’s the point in moving Arenado with the idea of paying half that contract to do so.

Even though his salary steps down the last two years, it's hard to imagine anyone being interested in a .670 OPS third baseman making $22mm. His defense is still great but the advanced metrics there are starting to slip a little as well.

OK I will no longer post any trades of any substance to talk about. I will only post trades on Helsley, no one else should post about other trades as well.
Why is Areanado the one everyone talks about? Gorman is horrible at 3B. Fine to talk about but the logjam is in the OF. Wetherholt is ready. Scott is locked in CF. Hererra at DH. So Walker Donovan Gorman Burleson and Nootbar for RF and LF. Gorman and Walker are too young to be PH types. Someone has to go. Preferably 2
Donovan can play third. So can JJ. Or Herrera can catch and Gorman can play 2B. And why is Scott locked in CF? Just bc nobody else can play the position is all I can think of.

The Arenado lesson is when you take on these long term high money contracts it's a sugar high at first and then you crash.
Yep. It doesn't mean that you shouldn't play in that big name free agent pool, but for those fans who want to, they need to recognize reality. 9 out of 10 of these contracts, at best, have a few years of pretty serious decline. It's pretty rare you get a Max Scherzer like contract. We got pretty lucky with the Goldschmidt extension in terms of player decline, yet people wanted to run him out of town. And like it or not, we're not LA or NY. We're not going to be able to continue to throw money at the problem to get around it.

Rockies moved Arenado because they thought McMahon would take over and he never was that guy. We got 3 great seasons from Arenado, too bad it looks like it'll cost us 4 garbage seasons (unless we move him) for those 3 great ones and ALOT of $$$
