IF he's proven he can hit in MLB, then Norman goes to 3rd base after NADO is dealt or his contract expires.
1st base needs to be the position, after WillyC is gone, that C. Bloom finds (via trade or FA) a true MOTO power hitter.
Yes, and there is NO statistical support for the statement that Burly is a very good first baseman, so I'm glad you didn't go there.

There ya go- power hitting first baseman. Gorman fits the bill, if he hits. Even a bad Gorman is good for 20 ish.
JJ has a shot to be another Brett type.
Gorman fits the bill playing his regular position BDog, power hitting 3rd baseman who replaces NADO.
JJW is going to 2nd base (or SS if they deal Winn), not 3rd base.
I agree with Rock. Unless Stormin' Norman is traded, he will get every opportunity to be the third baseman. I cringe at replacing Nado's D with Gorman's, but that is the reality of the situation. I really like Winn and think he should be here long-term, but I am not running the club, and if JJ really is the hitter he appears to be, you may see Winn dealt. I hope not, but it is certainly possible. First base is easy. You can always find someone to play there. Hererra may end up there, who knows. I don't see Burley as a foundational piece unless he proves he can really hit for more than a 30-50 day hot streak at a time. So far he has not shown that. His only real defensive position is 1B though. He is not too bad there. Plus, you can afford to have a slow runner at 1B. You just don't want too many oxen on the base paths in your lineup. But traditionally your first baseman is one of them. Again though, I don't think Burley is part of the core I want to build around.
If JJ can hit, then place him at 2nd base.
If he's a SS, the risk of injury is too high.
Keep Winn for D and moderate offense.
Would be a dynamic combo.
Oh I agree. Winn is only a second year player. Ozzie could barely hit his weight early in his career. Winn will improve at the dish, and he is as good defensively as any SS in baseball.

Yep.
Also, Winn is a superior athlete and he's light and springy.
He and JJ will team up to be one of the best tandems in baseball.
I think so anyway.

Good morning.
When Willy leaves, we really don’t have an heir. In a year plus, first will need to be filled. I don’t think I’ve seen a Gorman to first idea. Maybe it’s a bad idea?
Gorman. Lefty hitter. Righty fielder. Has played mucho third and second.
Reminds you of the sluggers at first. Will his 20 plus Homerun potential play at first.
Gorman
Donovan
Winn
JJ
Herrera DH
That looks like quality and cheap. Very cheap.
Good idea. Bad.
Burleson has played a very good 1st, and I would bet that Nado will be gone before Willy
Two good points. I had Burleson too, but I was thinking more in future, say year or two, and Burleson wouldn’t be here.
Would my defense by formidable-Donovan, Winn, JJ.
imo - Donny won't be here in a few years

We also just drafted a 1st Baseman. I've read where many think he is Contreras' replacement.

IMO Gorman should be platooning with Nado right now, or at least when Herrera comes off the IL. 2-3 games at 3rd 1 or 2 at DH, all against RHP gets him PA's. He's not Nado at 3rd but no one is. Adequate is how I'd describe his D. But it's time to find out if he can hit or not and 3b/DH are the spots to do it since Nado isn't exactly tearing it up at the plate.

Yes sir. You are probably right. In that case it’s JJ to second, Gorman to third, rendering my idea a flightless bird.
On the other hand, if it were Gorman Donovan Winn and JJ, would that be a good defensive infield, do you think.

Cheap is bad. 100% homegrown lineups don't win pennats. Lets forget that idea.
Also Willson is here thru 27 with an option for 28. He's our best option at 1B and a team leader. How much heart does Gorman show in the dugout?

I hear ya. AS week banter.
Just thinking out loud reference a bigger potential bat at first. In the future. Also to clean up some log jams internally.

The question is if Herrera can stay healthy. He keeps hurting himself at the plate or on the bases, which is all a DH does. You can’t hide players from running the bases at any position.
I kind of feel like we need another platoon DH/PH option just to Lenghthen our roster and lineup so we don’t end up with Saggese/Fermin/Baker types at DH when someone is hurt.

Contreras is signed for 2 more years after this season. He seems to like St. Louis. I don't believe that he will waive his no trade. My money says that Gorman will be gone by then.
