The thing I remember is 41,000 screaming and hollering stros' fans going completely silent, you could've heard a pin drop in that stadium when Albert hit that rocket.
I noticed that. I mean silent. No clinch at home.
I've never seen that in all the games I've watched (baseball, hockey, football, ect...) ever.

One man (Albert) silencing an entire stadium that was going insane just moments earlier.

Loved it!
Heck yea. If I recall two outs bases empty, two stokes on Eik.

Some say Lidge was never the same.

His next season, 2006, Lidge fell from AS closer in 2005 to a 5.28 ERA!

He did rebound w/a huge 2008 but that blast did seem to shake him the following season.

And I almost forgot Nolan Ryan's expression on his face too, something we'd do to him later in Game 6 of the 2011 WS!

And the pictures of Astros executive Nolan Ryan. He was not a happy man.
He was even more unhappy in 2011. :D

The battles between the Cardinals and the Astros Killer-B's were epic postseason drama in those days. If while it was happening, you knew it was something special.

I had a lot of respect for the Astros organization back then.

It got trashed when Jeff Lunhow and Sig Mejdal stole Cardinal intellectual property in the form of software when they moved over. Then cheat gate happened.

I don't think much of the Astros anymore and root against them. Ethics matter.

Correa was no hacker. He just typed in the login and password that was embedded in the Cardinal software'.

He should have just reported it up and been done. He was dumb enough to try and see Astros data and assessments. He was stupid and went jail for it.

Cardinal brass also let him get hit by the bus on that. They paid the price with draft picks. But they should have taken care of Correa too.

Lunhow had a culture of doing anything to win. It's why he isn't in the game anymore. They stole the foundation of their analytics from the Cardinals and used it to build a championship team. No I don't root for them.

The rest, alcoholism, drug use, car accidents, deaths? Do the Cardinals have more problems with this than other teams or the entire culture? The team was owned by a brewery, so maybe there is something there.

Sure ethics matter. They always do. But no team measures up here so might as well not root for anybody.

My God man……what are you drinking?

Luhnow did not spend anytime in the joint. To my knowledge he wasn’t even charged with anything.

and your blaming the deplorable behavior by cardinals players and staff on ownership ?

Rip the Stros….or any other team all you wish…..

But the cardinals have enough baggage to sink a ship…

Root for whoever you wish..but take off the red glasses

Dude, I admitted the Cardinals have as much baggage as anyone else. So you can stop there. I'm not here to get into it with you.

If anybody cares here's a good article on Chris Correa and his prison experience.

But it's all OT if you want to talk about Pujols homer

Absolutely, star studded high profile players…..teams that didn’t like each other….epic battles
And some wonder why the current Iteration of Cards baseball and MLB in general is such a let down.

I was just talking about this homerun with my dad a week or so ago.

I remember exactly where I was. Up at college watching intensely in my apartment. My roommate, good buddy, was a huge Cubs fan and watching with me. I remember going buck wild and can still picture the stunned look on his face. All he said was "Pujols is unbelievable." I love that memory.

I was also watching the Steve Bartman game with him. That went a bit differently.

Curious. Was anyone in a bar when Pujols launched? Maybe a Houston bar. That would have been something, maybe even dangerous.
