I think Brewers will surpass them prior to trade deadline .
Misiorowski pitched 6 tonight striking out 12.
They have All Star ace Woodruff back now who made his debut on Sunday.. Peralta , if they don’t trade him, made this year ASG.
I think Cubs chasing Brewers in September.
I don't know if they'll fall out of first place but something's got to give with that offense. Just seems like an unsustainable pace. That being said, while Cubs fans can and usually are the most obnoxious, no opponent is more maddening than the F'n Brewers. It doesn't matter what they do, who they lose, trade, have injured, etc, one way or another, their F'n team far too often finds a way to make the postseason.

Tough threesome to throw in the playoffs too.

I still don't know how they're doing it (even w/the #10 pitching staff) with that offense (lower team BA/SLG%/OPS and same OB% as the Cardinals plus they've only scored 14 more runs than the Cards too) but they are somehow mostly by stealing bases (#3 in MLB w/104 -vs- the Cardinals 47).

Sadly I'll have to say the scrubbies hold on and win the NLC.
If you lead baseball in steals, that looks like a bunch of doubles, and some triples. Much easier to score with risp. The steal is the deal.
Sure is BDog, we were lucky enough to see the best version of it ever...........Whitey Ball! :D
My favorite aspect of an effective running game is making the other team make mistakes. Plus, speed don't slump!
I’d add bunting to my game plan. With a running game. Chaotic.
Yes, not bunting leaves a huge void in an offense with no superstars. Dan Murphy gets that. Oli, not so much.

Bunting forces the pitcher to move. Changes his rythm. A pitcher is left alone in a dugout because the are mentally fragile. Why not mess with their psyche and lack of physical prowness.

It's a long season. I could see it happening maybe once or twice between now and the end, but I don't think the Brewers have the offense to stay with the Cubs and it's a question mark whether they can lock down a wildcard vs the Padres, Phillies, and Giants. The Cubs will shore up their starting rotation and bullpen at the deadline.

Why they haven't worked w/VSII on his bunting is yet another failure by Oli.

VSII should bunt at least once a game, twice if a LHP is on the mound!

USE HIS SPEED YOU MORONS!

I understand the concept of Cubs having more resources for deadline acquisitions but the Brewers have added two top guys to their starting rotation.. Woodruff and Misiorowki that they did not have in the first half.

Don’t forget they also had a top defensive CF who also was OUT the entire first half too… Blake Perkins. GG finalist in 2024
He returns after All Star break .
Brewers additions already have impacted their roster very much.
Will Cubs add TWO pitchers the caliber of Woodruff and Misiorowski ?
Hmmm ? Doubt it

Not to mention their top-4 starters thus far all have an ERA of 3.59 or lower. It's just maddening how they find a way to do this year after year. And their 21-year old potential superstar gamble that they put way more money than they could afford towards ... ? On pace for 30 HR 100RBI 30SB in his sophmore season, meanwhile our young superdud can't even hit his weight at AA.

Listed a the #1 buyer at deadline. Probably
Adding 2 caterers Owner willing to spend. Going for it with Tucker. I think they go the NLDS at worst.
Which caterers will they be adding? I am on the edge of my seat. P.S. learn how to spell.

I like Murphy. He is usually that stern look but in postgame media he displays his Irish humor.. deadpan stuff.
When Hoskins injured his thumb, Milw reporter asked him . Trainer was checking him out . We’re you out there to see if he should be taken out.
Murphy: No, was watching the trainer doing all the exercises. I went out there to get some TV time.
Said it with straight face.. no reporters chuckled.
Murphy looked saying.. That was just a joke guys.

UPDATE to July 8th thread : The Brewers did today July 21st ..10 days prior to the trade deadline, in fact. Glad to see the Cubs out of 1st place .
