Re: Kershaw ASG???
Is it a legend pick?
Because I wouldn't be shocked if Clayton packed 'em in after this season now that he's got his 3000 K's.
He probably should. Fella just can't stay healthy anymore.

It’s really weird to get upset over a legacy pick.
Re: Kershaw ASG???
You still don't seem to get the idea of baseball being irrevocably tied to its history -- and the nostalgia that evokes. Kershaw has been a large part of that history. And it's just the exhibition ASG. Leave it to the Dodgers to decide whether he should be playing in real games.Melville wrote: ↑06 Jul 2025 17:25 pmI don't see an indication of anyone being "fired up" - other than on the part of some who claim not to care about the game.
I simply made the perfectly accurate analysis that Kershaw does not belong based on performance this year - and several who are deserving were denied.
Not sure why anyone would object to a provably accurate assessment.

Didn't Pujols make it his last year batting like .200 at the break?

In other words, an admission it is a pick without 2025 merit.

Pujols and Cabrera were "legacy" appointments by the commissioner in 2022.vegascardsfan5890 wrote: ↑06 Jul 2025 18:15 pm Didn't Pujols make it his last year batting like .200 at the break?
He is pulling the same marketing stunt with Kershaw.
Has nothing at all to do with the game of baseball.

I will say that whatever Pujols "found" at the ASG workedMelville wrote: ↑06 Jul 2025 18:32 pmPujols and Cabrera were "legacy" appointments by the commissioner in 2022.vegascardsfan5890 wrote: ↑06 Jul 2025 18:15 pm Didn't Pujols make it his last year batting like .200 at the break?

He ate meatballs nearly exclusively after the ASG.
Great timing on his part.
Managed to squeak across the 700 HR threshold just before the season - and his career - ended.
It was a great.....marketing campaign.

+1 for someone who claims to know about baseball he seems utterly clueless about something that has happened multiple timesicon wrote: ↑06 Jul 2025 17:13 pmYou don't understand legacy status when it comes to the ASG. You'd think by now, you would know that.Melville wrote: ↑06 Jul 2025 17:01 pm Kershaw has played in only 9 games and is averaging fewer than 5 innings per start.
3.43 ERA; 1.254 WHIP, and just 6.4 K/9.
Not remotely deserving of making the squad - yet there he is (courtesy of a corrupt appointment on the part of Manfred).
Quite a few pitchers who are far, far more worthy.
Gray is one of them: 17 starts; 1.080 WHIP, 9.6 K/9 - while averaging a full inning more per game.
There are easily a dozen similar examples.

Not to mention the dodgers already have 4 other spots so theres no need to have more undeserving ones when other teams only have 1 representativeMelville wrote: ↑06 Jul 2025 17:17 pmI referenced that in my post.icon wrote: ↑06 Jul 2025 17:13 pmYou don't understand legacy status when it comes to the ASG. Perhaps you missed that?
I understand it with perfection - which is why I am opposed to it.
This is the 2025 ASG - and Kershaw has not earned it.
"Legacy" recognition belongs in the HOF.
Not on the field.
