It’s weird to keep a good hitter on the bench just so he can pinch hit and waste four at bats on bad hitters. Good hitters can contribute more to the team with more at bats than fewer
Not if he is getting more opportunities hitting with RISP which can coming off the bench. Understand I think you give up defense with him playing catcher.

Yeah, let’s give the better hit her one plate appearance instead of four. That makes a ton of sense. Are you Oli’s wife?
No dip [shirt] I’m not. He is the only real bat off the bench and can hit in key situations. Also defense does suffer a bit with him in the game.
lol Ms Marmol!

You do you

I’ll take 4 PAs over 1 PA any day when it’s obvious who is better
Ok I’ll ignore the insult. But do you really think his defense and game calling is better than Pages?

Pozo needs to catch tomorrow

Pages looks dazed right now, lots of leakage behind plate too

Not sure what his consistent role should be, but he is definitely a major league player. I am comfortable seeing him come up to the plate in any situation.

He would get more at bats with runners on getting 4 at bats than just 1. And it’s silly logic to bench good hitters because they would be better coming off the bench than sucky hitters. Hey let’s bench pujols because he would be a beast coming off the bench lol and no I’m not comparing the two but you don’t bench your good hitters just because they are good hitters that’s insane. And pages isn’t that great of a catcher he fails at the most basic function of a catcher which is to catch the ball

Pages is better than Pozo on defense and calling games. I’m not sure he would get more bats with RISP getting 4 attempts vs the flexibility of inserting him in those opportunities off the bench.

So would you play Pozo over Yadi when he came up? I’m not comparing Pages to Yadi but there are certain positions on the field where defense has to play.

Catcher is going to be a deeply flawed position until Brenal and or Jimmi Crooks are here. I see both Pages and Pozo as short term answers. Maybe Pozo hangs on as a bench bat.

And if you move burleson to the bench, herrera when he returns to the bench, and then contreras to the bench- and insert fermin hampton into the lineup instead- then suddenly you have 4 real bats off the bench----- but then a really terrible lineup. Pages has been brutal as a hitter for some time. If not making pozo oztright starter at least split their starts more. Pages was hitting better when he wasnt playing everyday. If pozo cools off, then you can revert bacl but at least say you tried.
Much of your argument is non sense but splitting more time giving Pages more days off makes sense.
I was being sarcastic to the suggestion that benching a superior hitter gives you a better bat off the bench. Pozo only gives us a bat off the bench because we are inserting an inept bat i to the lineup. Now i dont k ow if pozo could jeep up his hittjng playing every day, but if he could id take defensive tradeoff. At very least they should have been splitting starts long ago. Pages doesnt deserve 80%+ of starts

I too would like to see more of Pozo.
I get that Pages is better behind the plate but I think Pozo should get more of a look than catching 25% of the time.
Of course you can start Pages but look to pinch hit Pozo earlier(4th or 5th) if a situation arises?
I wouldn’t waste Pozo hitting with the bases empty.
That could work.
Of course I question Oli’s ability to navigate that situation or any critical decision in the heat of play.

Love Pozo and how he's always ready. In defense of Pages he has to be ground down. I can't imagine what it's like catching almost everyday in this heat then be expected to hit. That being said Pozo has to catch more to spell Pages. Maybe just assign him to catch Fedde. Could it go worse?

DH... especially with the lefty Boyd pitching for the Cubs.
