But. Isn’t potential the tool to measure predicted performance.
I look at baseball as a whole. The 390 position player stats. Very few stand out. Tells me most don’t make stardom. What’s left is a bunch of good players. Everyone is loaded with these types.

Look at our team. We are full of good ball players. But so is the next team. In fact, the talent level difference between each roster is minimal. It showed in Pittsburgh.butsir01 wrote: ↑05 Jul 2025 09:08 am“Loaded,” BD? Capital idea!sikeston bulldog2 wrote: ↑05 Jul 2025 09:07 amBut. Isn’t potential the tool to measure predicted performance.

Yeah, I think the best thing Jordan Walker could hope for right now is to somewhow get the F away from the St. Louis Cardinals.Alex Reyes Cy Young wrote: ↑05 Jul 2025 09:14 amEspecially when the organization isn’t very good at developing positional talent.
The flip side of that, however, is the guy has been give more than ample opportunity to show something. His pitch recognition and inability to drive a center-cut fastball aren't anyone else's fault.

Agreed. I don't know if Walker will ever reach MLB batting competency but I'm certain that StL coaches have run out of ideas to help him get there.Yeah, I think the best thing Jordan Walker could hope for right now is to somewhow get the F away from the St. Louis Cardinals.
Re: Walker rehab performance….!!!!
Totally correct. I just know he was brought up early as future superstar. Sent back down then up. Changed his hitting approach etc. But his talent level may have just been over hyped.scoutyjones2 wrote: ↑05 Jul 2025 08:07 amWhat if he isn't capable of being "developed?" The fall from grace Walker has had is really remarkable.
From Top 5 prospect (wasn't he even #1 at one time?) to barely hanging on in MLB.
He's too young to just throw in the towel.................yet.
But you have to wonder if C. Bloom, who has no responsibility for him given Walker falls onto Mo's resume, will give him more than 2026 before deciding to move on?

Walker seems ripe for a change of scenery trade. Certainly other teams have players in similar circumstances: highly touted, highly drafted, great potential, but not meeting expectations in their performance. I would expect to see such a trade this winter. Maybe same with Gorman. I think that’s how we got Liberatore.

Just Worthless and KKorn to the A's for Colby Thomas

Not typically draft picks that are later regarded as the number 1 or 2 prospect in all of baseball.

Two things you can't teach.
So it was easy for folks to get carried away with the hype.
Unfortunately the rest is more skill set and Walker probably will never obtain those.
