Reliever addition should be a top priority. And actually, it's an area Mo has been pretty good at adding at the deadline.

A good bat would be nice. But maybe hard to find. That addition may need to come from the minors.

-If they could find a RHHing OFer who could actually hit, then you could get a bigger deal (J. Walker dangled?)

-I'd move mountains and see if some team would take Mikolas (even if BDWJr has to eat some salary) just for his innings eating ability so Oli can slot M. McGreevy into his slot

-I'd move Matz, he's on the downswing and that IL stint could be looming

-Fedde might bring back something of value, I'd move him if they can't find a sucker errrrrrrr GM to take Mikolas again to clear a runway fr McGreevy

Helsley is a tough one.

There's NO CLOSER on this team, trading him would basically be waiving the white flag on a playoff spot.

(And NO you can't simply slot Maton there and think he'd be a great as he's been in the 8th, closing is a different animal)

My bet is they keep Helsley if they're anywhere close to a playoff spot.

They have a glut of position players, especially at IF and Catcher, all of which are some level of quality and all of which are replaceable. This is obviously where they can deal from to get some level of quality pitching.

You can easily see how a multi-player package centered around Crooks makes a lot of sense. I've been saying Crooks + Davis is a good starting point. Might be a good time to trade Walker too. Bottom line is that there are quality players to be dealt without seriously setting back the organization.

What is left on Miles contract?? Half a year?? If thats an issue the old man should be in a home.
Another reliable SP is required.

They need to show some of the old Cardinals “Go for it” as in TRL time to gain back fan trust. This [nonsense] where “getting Walker back is like a trade” is not something fans want to hear.
Had an HVAC repair guy in house last week. The game was on and he says “I haven’t been to a game in years….used to go all the time….tired of BDW/MO. And it’s embarrassing now to see an empty Busch”. All my friends say the same. This ownership needs to produce or it’ll get worse.

Well Apr-May-June are gone so July-Aug-Sept or (and this is simply a rough guess) about $8.8M.

I think McG could be that other reliable SP.

A RHHer is a must, but can they find one?

To me Walker is an enigma, his time here running out w/C. Bloom taking over and he has no connection to him since Walker is on Mo's resume.

They are half way through the season and are on a near 90 win pace, including playing .600 ball at home. Maybe the fans should open their eyes, see there is a competitive team on the field (shockingly) and start showing up. People are so consumed with the relentless criticism that they are missing the Cardinals putting together a good first half. Wasn't my prediction, but I'm not blind to it. The HVAC guy is missing out.

Without giving up the farm (literally), they will probably do nothing.

I could see them making a mistake and moving either Walker or Gorman, but I think the fan base has spoken.

We are not coming back until Mo is gone, regardless of the situation.

I haven't researched this much, but I'd look into a Brent Rooker. I still believe in Sandy Alcantara. And Ive heard good things from the Jake Bird in Colorado as a good relief piece. Add McGreevy into the mix as a starter as well.

Trade both Mikolas/Fedde, if possible.
Rotation down the stretch becomes: Alcantara, Gray, Liberatore, McGreevy, and Pallante.

I'd consider moving Matz, but only if we got something we considered really nice for the future. If not, hang onto him and pray for good health. (Contract year, so odds are better for that!!)

I'm keeping Helsley. You can't trade your closer in a playoff push with no real replacement on hand. That's bad juju.

As far as what we have to give up? I'm not sure. To land a Rooker, it might hurt a little. But we have some depth, particularly at C and on the IF. (Crooks, Bernal, Pages, Pozo, Herrera, Saggese, Prieto, Gorman, Baker, Wetherholt, etc.) We also could trade some OF prospects (Davis, Church, Koperniak, Antico, Baez, etc.), if we think VSII and Rooker (for example) are 2 core pieces moving forward. Nootbaar could also then be on the block. Adding him (Rooker) is a proven bat that would become a core piece, so I'd be more inclined to give up something that would "hurt".

Again, just spitballing here late. No idea if somebody like Rooker or Alacantara or Bird are even options. But we definitely need a SP, RP, and OF bat. We have the ability to do this without jeopardizing the future (and perhaps do so in a way that helps now and for the future!).
