Swept the guardians
In sole possession of a wild card spot

And people still want to trade our ace

Unbelievable

Cardinals should and will be adding
Should? Maybe. Will? They haven't added anything of substance lately even when they were getting 3.3 mil clicks.
Jordan Montgomery was a pretty good add in 2022, especially combined with Quintana. Even trading for Fedde last year at the deadline was seen as a good move by the Cardinals.
How many playoff wins did those guys bring us? Like I said, anything of substance.

Monty and Quintana helped get them to the playoffs.

I guess that Chris Sale wasn’t a trade of substance since the Braves had 0 playoff wins with him last year and it looks like they will not see the playoffs this year with him.

This discussion is about the Cardinals. Either way, it's a moot point. They aren't adding anything.

Maybe not. Part of the reason is I don’t see much good that will be available unless a surprise seller comes out. The Twins are a team I’d keep an eye on. They had a terrible June and are a non-factor in the AL Central. But they are 3.5 games out of the WC race, so that makes them iffy to sell. But if they did, they have interesting names like Joe Ryan and Byron Buxton they could put out there.

Sonny's salary goes up to 35 mil next season. I didn't realize it was graduated that way, for some reason I thought it was 25 per year for 3 years + option.

I think if someone is offering a good package, you let them pay the 36 year old 35 million next year.

And I am a huge fan of Sonny, I think he is great and I love watching him pitch. But the best long term plan would be to get a great package for him. I don't see it happening though with his no trade clause, and I wouldn't blame him for vetoing anything. He seems happy to be here.

Love both of those players-but at what cost? Joe ryan 2 years Buxton signed thru 28.

Ok. Thanks for your criticism.
well, it is the same player that somehow Mo thought rated a full no trade clause ..... I understand your fears..

Yea, that’s the question. My guess is Ryan would cost at least Crooks, Baez/Walker, and maybe a Hence/Mathews/Henderson etc. I would think he’d have quite a bit of interest as a near ace level pitcher in his prime. And it wouldn’t surprise me if any Joe Ryan trade would need to begin with either Wetherholt or Bernal.

No, its exactly something MO would do. Maybe not a 5 year extension, but I could see him reupping him. (Perhaps not now since he is leaving, but defintely if hw was still going to be here.) Mo thinks of Mikolas in the same vein as M. Carpenter, Waino, Molina. He wants him to be a legacy guy. Insane!
He absolutely does not. You can't be serious, but I think you might be.

Miles is basically a .500 pitcher. We are not getting rid of him unless in the 2nd half of the season he really tanks. Dfa. He has 1 bad inning that blows up his ERA which he can't help apparently.

He’s not “basically a .500 pitcher”. He has a .438 winning% over the last 6 seasons. And his ERA over his last 3 years is 4.99. What is “really tanking” from the T-7th worst ERA in baseball over the last 3 years?

Why? Didn't Mo approach Mikolas about a possible trade in the offseason, for which Mikolas said no? The Cardinals are not re-signing him, and there is zero chance Mo puts him in the same tier as Cardinals HOFers, especially Yadi. That's just not true on any level.
