88-90 wins should put a team in good position for one of the WC's.
No win total that begins with an 8 will make into the playoffs in the NL this year.
Disagree'
2024
WC
89 wins Braves
89 wins Mets
I'm aware that this has been done in the past. The National League is stronger that it has been in twenty years. It will take more.
Not really stronger given:
Braves struggling
DBacks too
Plus Cardinals are only a game and a half behind the Brewers, a game behind the Padres and 1/2 behind the Giants.
88-90 wins could easily land a WC spot.

Oli has had this team overperforming for 2 years now, if he had a complete roster, absolutely they would make the playoffs
I agree. CT hate Oli, but claim it either has bad players or he's keeping them down with this "talent"
I think this is meh talent team and he has them playing above 500

The trade deadline will probably make the difference on who makes the wild cards and who doesn’t. Whoever improves the team and fixes their weaknesses will probably the ones who win the wild cards

I’d say 90+ will be the magic number. I had them winning the division with 90 wins by 1 game over the Cubs and 3 over the Reds. I could still see that happening.
Just curious .. Where do you see the Brewers ? 4th in the division ?
Yes, I think I had them being 4th place and at 81 wins.
From the predictions thread:
STL 90-72
CHC 89-73
CIN 87-75
MIL 81-81
PIT 78-84
Looking off base on the Pirates, who should sell some players at the deadline.
This is looking pretty good

I predicted 88 wins in spring. (Hope spring eternal). Even then, they will be hard pressed to maintain this pace.
They are getting banged up (Herrera, Walker, Noot, Donovan). Others have been ridden hard (Winn, Scott, Donovan). Hampson does not provide the upside you want in a supersub. Saggese helps and should stay.
The rotation is exposed. Have confidence in Gray and Libby. But wonder at a pitch limit for Libby. Everyone else has to pull rabbits out of their hats as #4 or #5 pitch-to-contact starters.
As staters get exposed, so does the bullpen. Helsley s fastball still has speed but is flat and hittable. So hold your breath in the 9th.
The defense has to keep being stellar. There is very little margin for error.
All those words and I'll stick with 88 wins.
But it's jyuussst not going to be enough for the playoffs. Brewers slapped us around and own any tie breaker. The Giants are all in with Devers.
The Cardinals have had an admirable season so far. A fun team to watch that never gives up.
But they are still on the outside looking in for the playoffs. Need an upgrade to get there. I don't think it's coming and they are more likely to sell at the deadline.
If you got this far, thanks for reading.
Cheers

I believe they will make the playoffs since Oli is becoming a pretty good manager - time will tell!

Agree with your assessment of being more fun to watch and just missing. Agree that upgrades aren't coming. Disagree with being likely to sell. I think they will do something worse than selling. They will do the same inert thing that plagues them- nothing.

IF 88 wins makes the playoffs, which I doubt very much, the Cards will get bounced in the first round after losing 2 straight games in someone else's stadium.
And, some will call that a success. I will agree that they had a better season than I expected. But, I will not be one that celebrates once again getting bounced out in the first round.

Minimum 90 games
Cards wont get close to there, too many holes on roster, cant hit lefties, pitchers cant miss bats, not the most athletic bunch other than Winn and Scott

Neither can a lot of good teams.
OPS Vs LHP
MIL: .697
STL: .674
NYM: .678
SD: .647
CIN: .637
SF: .624
NYM 10-9 vs LHP
LAD 11-11 vs LHP
CHC 11-11 vs LHP
STL 14-15 vs LHP
PHI 10-14 vs LHP
Milwaukee is the only NL team with a record better than the Mets vs LHP, they are 15-9. So everybody else is 1 game over .500 vs LHP or worse.

Blue Font needed Rex.
