Re: Don’t Overlook Burleson’s Defense Last Night

Love what Burleson is doing but let’s be honest his defense could be a liability. However in many many examples a bat outplays defense. I’m ok with it.

That's one of the main reasons I felt he'd be successful. Pedro pages nolan arenado and luken baker still have faster sprint speeds this year. At25 0 ft per second, the only cardinal hes faster than is pozo.
He does actually run unlike yadier molina who would log ridiculously slow times like 23 as a result, and his form looks smoother than arenado who legitimately does not know how to run- its kinda puzzling how arenado made it to this age without ever being taught running form. But make no mjstake- burleson aint fast. Far from it.
We can't just acknowledge he finally had a good game defensively and having a nice run at the plate. He is now FAST, and an unstoppable hitting machine. He just has that face and midwest charm I guess.

Dog. I just hope Burleson doesn't have a drop off like last season. Right now, he's a heckuva player for the Cardinals.sikeston bulldog2 wrote: ↑25 Jun 2025 09:25 amI didn’t judge. I know you’re delighted. I’m sure he will cool off some; but then again soon, losing teams will start to showcase their farm arms. He could eat them up.Shady wrote: ↑25 Jun 2025 09:29 amDog. My only intent is to point out to a fellow poster colleague that saying a player looks and sounds like a "bubba" may not be the right casting of judgement on Burleson without doing a little research on the player. That's all. And I'm not a Shady fan.sikeston bulldog2 wrote: ↑25 Jun 2025 09:25 amI didn’t judge. I said happy as pig in slop. That’s a joke- reference level of happiness. Then I said good for him. Ooooh you’re talking about Bubba. My intent there was a Bubba is usually a big holly fella. That fits. And the the nickname Burly fits with Bubba. Same here. When he’s locked in he’s a big asset. His problem so far has been doing it consistently. I hope he does - and props to you for adding a little caution to your typical Burly optimism.Shady wrote: ↑25 Jun 2025 09:29 amDog. I just hope Burleson doesn't have a drop off like last season. He showed adequate range and speed last night. He’ll never be Garry Maddox, but he holds his own.Baseball Savant wrote: ↑25 Jun 2025 08:50 am No he is not a good fielder at all due to lacl of range.
He is very slow and has trouble cutting balls off before it reaches wall.
He's a DH, not an outfielder
