Re: Lindstein coming over per the interwebs
Great news. Young man is 20, we may not see much of him in the NHL for a couple more seasons. Would say he projects somewhere between Gunnar and Broberg, is that wide enough?

Re: Lindstein coming over per the interwebs
Agreed he does potentially have some untapped offensive potential. Not so much in the way of him directly driving offense like ASP or Hutson but he’s so good at finding the open man combined with his skating that he absolutely has the ability to rack up some assists. As a teenager playing pro hockey, he almost certainly was playing as safe and conservative as he could but I bet he would’ve put up some decent offensive numbers if he was playing Canadian Jrs for example. Would be quite the bonus if he could develop that part of his game too.seattleblue wrote: ↑24 Jun 2025 13:14 pmI agree on the NA adjustment period. Lindstein skates so well in all directions, he is smooth and he doesn't get flustered. Blues fans will point to his point production which is why he won't be seen as a #1 all situations PP defenseman. But he has shown an ability to provide more offense when Sweden had him in that role his first WJC, he was more in a shutdown role last WJC but I thought he looked great.STL fan in MN wrote: ↑24 Jun 2025 12:38 pmJonas Brodin or perhaps a Gustsav Forsling type.
Very high hockey sense but that shines through more in terms of his reads, positioning, gaps, outlets, breakouts etc more than offensive output. He’s also a plus skater and always has his head up. He’ll still put up maybe 30ish pts/year simply because he’ll be good transitioning the pucks to forwards, finding the open man etc but by and large his main benefit will be on the defensive side. Won’t be used on the PP but likely a stalwart 5 on 5 and on the PK.
Will probably need a solid year in the AHL first before. He’s only 6’0” and just turned 20 so will need to continue to develop his body. The SHL is a very good league but the main difference between the SHL and AHL will be the size of the ice and that creates a different play style Lindstein will have to adapt to. He had more space to cover in the defensive zone in Sweden but it’s also more of an East-West game there whereas here with the narrower rinks, it’s more North-South with more net front coverage. So more traffic in front, more tips/deflections etc. So to me, the main thing I’d guess he’ll need to work on is adapting to that and with that comes an increased need for strength for the leverage needed to move forwards out of the way in front of our net.
But he’s a smart kid and I bet he’ll catch on soon mentally. May just take a year or perhaps more for his body to be where it needs to be to be able to handle NHL caliber forwards in front of the net and in the corners. He has all the makings to be a solid #2-4 d-man for many years.
Obv not responding to your post with this, but It's weird to hear a player whose games you watched be described as hidden, tbh. How a player permutes through a wounded troll's personal level of attention seems like incredibly stupid criteria to judge a player on.
And yep. SHL games aren’t on ESPN so I guess they must be hidden? Whatever.

I'm not sure. Re: Lindstein coming over per the interwebs
I thought he looked good at the WJC on his offside collecting the puck at the offensive blue line and keeping it from going out of the zone. Little things like that go a long way, in my mind anyways. It seems like he just has great poise and soft hands to go with good passing and decision-making. An all-situations type of dman seems very accurate. I mentioned earlier maybe some untapped offensive potential, and maybe that is more along the lines of how he's been described and used.STL fan in MN wrote: ↑24 Jun 2025 13:39 pmAgreed he does potentially have some untapped offensive potential. Hoping to witness some of the stuff you guys are describing (I love watching dmen who are plus skaters) during prospects camp this summer.

Lindstein was very noticeable during the WJs i would think anyone watching and paying attention would be excited to have him in NA. I was wondering if he would spend another season in the SHL i thought Army may have said that somewhere but this is a great move. Hes definitely headed to the Blues top 4 D at some point

Oh snap I didn’t even know he was over here yet. I guess I really didn’t pay attention to the A this year. Did he have a good year anyone get eyes on him?Harry S Deals wrote: ↑24 Jun 2025 18:54 pmIt will be Stenbergs 2nd AHL season if everything goes right maybe be gets a sniff of the NHL this yearTampaBlues78 wrote: ↑24 Jun 2025 18:51 pm So it’s good news to see that about Lindstein coming over but what about Stenberg?

17 pts in 38 games pretty decent for 19 yrs old very comparable to other 19 yr old Blues prospects in the A. I would expect Otto to take a step forward this year he will be a good NHLerTampaBlues78 wrote: ↑24 Jun 2025 18:56 pmOh snap I didn’t even know he was over here yet. He has the same amount of NHL games played as every other defenseman from the ‘23 first round combined. So how exactly are the Blues ‘hiding him behind closed doors’?a smell of green grass wrote: ↑24 Jun 2025 12:59 pm Based on the hype on draft day, I was expecting that we would know more about Lindstein by now. No, he is not and will likely never be. One is a center the other is a defenseman. Bad comparison by any standard.bluetunehead wrote: ↑24 Jun 2025 20:39 pmHe’s not Tage Thompson yetstryker16 wrote: ↑24 Jun 2025 19:37 pmHe has the same amount of NHL games played as every other defenseman from the ‘23 first round combined. I believe Bluetunehead knew that. I think it was a dig at Grass' infatuation with the "Next Tage Thompson".Aesa wrote: ↑24 Jun 2025 20:53 pmNo, he is not and will likely never be. I am still flumoxed by Grass' infatuation with missing teeth.
