Here in STL, we are pondering what could have been if we could have kept Thompson, or what would life be like with him now.

Meanwhile....
There is not a single fan in another city that even remembers Zach Dean's name, or any of the other players that we got in exchange for letting our stars go.

Hmmm.. Who is to blame for that? What is Army short for?
I mean, you could always move to one of these cities. Win for you and win for us, squirt.
Nah. I"m holding out hope that BluesTalk rummies like yourself will grow a brain. If I can wait for Perunovich to be an NHL player, I have enough patience to wait for anything.
Perfect. So have patience and shut the [fork] up.
Ok. Just one question... What young player that we got in return for our stars do you want me to wait for? If you can name that person, I will set my alarm for 5 years.

Face it. We GOT NOTHING when our stars went to other teams to chase their Cup. Nothing. Army got us NO Tage Thompson.
As has been pointed out to you previously:

Otto Stenberg
Theo Lindstein
Lukas Fischer
Zach Dean
Juraj Pekarcik
Adam Jecho

Also, you’re comparing the ROR trade from BUF to STL to the ROR trade from STL to TOR. He was a much different asset during those 2 trades. When the Blues acquired him, he had 5 years left on his contract. When the Blues sold him, he had 0.25 years left on his contract. So yes, Buffalo got more for ROR than the Blues did because he was worth less as an asset when they sold him almost 5 years later.

But what else did the Blues get?

•5 years of ROR as their 1C (pushed more to 2C by Thomas his last year with the team)

A Stanley Cup

•A Conn Smythe

•Draft picks that became Stenberg, Pekarcik and Fischer

What did Toronto get from ROR?

•13 regular season games, 11 playoff games. That’s it.

Also, all of the prospects we got for selling ROR and Tarasenko just finished their 18 or 19 yr old seasons. So let’s take a look at where Tage Thompson was doing at age 18-19.

18: University of Connecticut - 32 pts in 36 games
19: University of Connecticut - 32 pts in 34 games
and then 2 pts in 16 AHL games for the Chicago Wolves

Prospects take time.

OK. OK. OK.

It's time to take out the old wait patiently flag.

But in another couple years, we will have 8 Tage Thompsons. You heard it from STL Fan in MN first.

Definitely didn’t say that. In fact, I specifically said we got less for ROR than Buffalo did and explained why.

Also, our TT currently would probably be Kyrou, the guy that’s led us in goals the last 3 years. We acquired Kyrou with a pick we got by selling Brian Elliott to the Flames years ago.

Yep. Dvorsky was acquired via our own pick but we almost certainly would’ve finished higher in the standings that year had we not sold off ROR, Tarasenko and Barbashev.

I know I’m wasting my time but it’s also extremely rare to see a trade that works out the way the ROR trade did, where each team ends up with a major win of some kind. We got the Cup. They got a star. The only other one that comes to mind is Nieuwendyk for Iginla. Dallas got their Cup and Calgary got a future HOFer.

So let's replay how good our transactions were.

Vegas got Pietrangelo and Barbashev, and they won a Stanley Cup.
The Blues got nothing for either player.

Toronto got ROR and they won their first playoff round in 19 years.
The Blues got some prospects that haven't made it to the NHL yet, much less make any sort of impact.

Tage Thompson is a prospect that paid off. Buffalo has 1 very beautiful bird in hand in exchange for ROR. St louis has 6 prospects in the bush.

St louis has 6 prospects in the bush for all of the stars of their 2019 Cup.

Aren’t you forgetting our Stanley Cup? If it counts for Vegas it counts for us.
If all Toronto did was win a round, weren’t they better off tanking and trying to get a top 5 pick? Why did they trade for “old” ROR and win a few meaningless games?
How many times has Buffalo made the playoffs?

Tage Thompson was 24 when he finally broke out with a good season. He wins only 42% of draws, was a wing for the Blues, and really slots better at wing than center. Prior to his age 24 season, fans in STL had almost forgotten his name and considered the trade very lopsided, with only a bit of a chance of Tage actually evening it out for Buffalo.
https://www.hockey-reference.com/player ... pta01.html

Zach Dean is 22 and good at faceoffs - a pure center
Dalibor Dvorsky is 20 (as of a week ago) and good at faceoffs - a pure center
Robert Thomas was 19 at the time of the Tage Thompson trade, and he is a top center in the league

Edit: Also worth noting that Petro and Schwartz left as UFAs. Vince Dunn was lost in the expansion. We cashed in on ROR, Tarasenko, and Barbs to come out with a pretty good haul: Dvorsky (our pick), Lindstein, Stenberg, and Dean. ROR and Tarasenko have been mediocre to bad since their last season(s) here and after we traded them.

Bud on Tap needs to grow a brain while you lie to every one here on this board with your supposed swan song to leave here.

Got it.

Did you tell your mom you picked up your socks today too?
