A couple of big homers in just the last few games, not a superstar any longer yet still a very good player.
He had the pinch-hit walk off hit against the Dodgers.
Now tell me about POZO and his clutch hitting...
Now that's a guy that's easy to like

Arenado's last great season was 2022.

The best part is that when he does hit that home run, it's usually late in the game at a time that we really need it to change the trajectory of the momentum to our side.

He's been a winning player, making winning plays on defense and at the plate all year. Nearly 70% of his home runs have come late to tie it, give us the lead or get us back to within 1 in a game we eventually won.

This seems to be lost on a lot of people that live and die by OPS, OPS+ without context. To those, I ask: Do you not watch the games? Do you only watch box scores after the fact?
You’ve decided to convince yourself of an untrue narrative.

He’s hitting .216 with a .620 OPS and 12 RBI on the road
He’s hitting .206 with a .710 OPS w/ 2 outs and RISP
He’s hitting .220 with 4 HR in late & close situations

When they’re ahead, he has hit .230 with 4 HR and 13 RBI
When they’re behind, he has hit .232 with 4 HR and 13 RBI

He’s decidedly average.

Just found someone that obviously doesn't watch any games
Your bar for “great” is far lower than mine. You’d be hard pressed to find anyone in the game who would characterize his season as “great” if asked.

don't you diss my slideruler

and to the comment about Gorman playing 3rd.. he's not nearly as bad as people make it sound.. he's actually played it quite well this year

Arenado should be traded if there are any takers. His defense will be missed, his bat is easily replaceable.

I love Nado, but I'm here for it. It would solve a litany of roster construction issues.

Not averse to moving NADO

BUT

He's not "Alec Bohm" defensively, better than him.

NADO
+4 DRS
+3 OAA

Bohm
-2 DRS
+2 OAA

He's not having a great season, but he is still having a solid (~3 fWAR pace) season.

Curious why you believe that to be true. Did someone tell you that and you believed them? Cause they lied.

He’s like 55th among hitters and 130th overall.

I was hoping I could come here and hear how awesome our $24m 3rd baseman is with his .717 OPS and 99 OPS+. I bet other GM's are blowing up Mo's phone trying to pry him away

It's really hard to believe fans actually would like to replace him with Gorman
Arenado and Goldschmidt as the faces of the franchise became the whipping boys for a fan base frustrated with a horrible front office. Instead of building around them, this front office put all the weight on them. When the team failed they took the shots.

99 ops+ 311 obp. He’s on pace for a drs of 25% of his peak year.

No. Not a “great” year.
