Re: Tage thompson
He's still a center, but a pretty mediocre one, probably better suited to the winger style of play.
I'm not sold on them wanting to move him either. It's easy to just assume everyone on Buffalo is tired of losing, but honestly they can move from some secondary pieces and work towards bringing in some guys with some winning pedigree to play with their players that have little to no playoff experience and push them closer to winning. Abandoning ship on Tage Thompson doesn't seem like the path to success. If it is, it'll be when someone opens up the wallet and gives out a lot in return.

I wonder if they're interested in 3rd overall and a prospect....

Looked his faceoff stats up a few minutes ago… blah! Would still love to have him on this team playing between holloway and kyrou though. Just feel that deal is passed our puke point. Not even sure if he would want to come back.JoshInFenton wrote: ↑21 Jun 2025 18:31 pm He's still a center, but a pretty mediocre one, probably better suited to the winger style of play.

Im not too sure who his regular linemates are in buffalo, but for fun what kind of numbers could you see him putting up in a full season between holloway and kyrou? Would that be a good fit? I feel kyrou would probably take on more of the qb role and defer to TT and holloways shot.STL fan in MN wrote: ↑21 Jun 2025 18:08 pmIt was with Strickland. Strick asked him about it, Tage said he was disappointed but after the coach made a point that couldn’t happen again, it didn’t. Strick also asked about how he liked his time in STL and TT gave a polite answer and said you never know where your career may go and who knows, he could end up back in STL. That might be where that rumor is starting from
I mean, maybe he eventually forces his way out but if you were Buffalo, would you ever voluntarily consider trading your 40 goal scorer? I could see him score 50 if things fall in the right direction for him.

It would probably be one of the best offensive lines in the league IMO. Heck, those 2 with Schenn was around top-10 in the league. Replace Schenn with TT? Yeesh! Look out.Younghopp1991 wrote: ↑21 Jun 2025 19:13 pmIm not too sure who his regular linemates are in buffalo, but for fun what kind of numbers could you see him putting up in a full season between holloway and kyrou? Not going to happen though unfortunately.

The guy is on a great contract and is one of the league’s premier goal scorers. Why would BUF trade him?

Re: Tage thompson
Didn't Tage play RW roughly the last quarter or so of the season? It took a while for the Sabres to figure that out.
TT is a big bodied sniper.
Ironically the traded away Cozens will also probably end up on wing after being their 2C behind TT for a handful of years.
Buffalo thought they were set at center for years, but that plan went awry.
Buffalo really needs a playmaking center because Norris has averaged only 23 assists per 82 games in his career.
Even if he was adept at playmaking, he's going to get hurt anyway.
They're going to need Kulich and/or Ostlund to be legit centers.
Buffalo will be fun to watch for the next 2 weeks because Adams realizes this is his last chance.

Yes you are correct it was Strick that put out the tweet, just couldn't find it at the time that I posted. Thank you.STL fan in MN wrote: ↑21 Jun 2025 18:08 pmIt was with Strickland. Tage Thompson is just to much of a known commodity to trade for IMO, everyone is going to want Tage Thompson at 7.1 million...like literally everyone. Bidding gonna get plum stupid on something like that.
If we are going to get into that kind of thing it has to be for young d IMO.

Maybe the blues can do both? I hear we have quite some young talent. Re: Tage thompson
If a 2C is what this team needs I think TT is exactly the type of player I'd like them to get. He's big, young, has a great shot and plays with speed. $7m is not totally out of line for a 2C. He's probably not available but if I was Army I'd kick those tires because Holloway/Thompson/Kyrou could be deadly.

TT would be a long term solution, but then what are you doing when Dvo is ready to take the wheel but is blocked?HighStick wrote: ↑22 Jun 2025 01:01 am If a 2C is what this team needs I think TT is exactly the type of player I'd like them to get. if you're trading for TT, then DVO is likely going the other way.. and then somenetboy65 wrote: ↑22 Jun 2025 09:45 amTT would be a long term solution, but then what are you doing when Dvo is ready to take the wheel but is blocked?HighStick wrote: ↑22 Jun 2025 01:01 am If a 2C is what this team needs I think TT is exactly the type of player I'd like them to get. He’s not only NOT a playmaker…..He’s not a center.HighStick wrote: ↑22 Jun 2025 01:01 am If a 2C is what this team needs I think TT is exactly the type of player I'd like them to get. Hard pass on TT. He doesn’t fill our 2C hole.

Re: Tage thompson
BluesTalk has failed to notice that the Blues biggest needs are 2C and RHD, which aligns 100% with our top draft choices in 2023 and 2024. Everyone, including the Blues FO, is acting like our 2023 and 2024 drafts didn't happen. Hmmmmm. Fans should be asking Army why this is.moose-and-squirrel wrote: ↑22 Jun 2025 10:04 amif you're trading for TT, then DVO is likely going the other way.. and then somenetboy65 wrote: ↑22 Jun 2025 09:45 amTT would be a long term solution, but then what are you doing when Dvo is ready to take the wheel but is blocked?HighStick wrote: ↑22 Jun 2025 01:01 am If a 2C is what this team needs I think TT is exactly the type of player I'd like them to get.
