If Walker was more of a sure thing. Then the Cardinals wouldn't even need to consider Robert for getting a RH power hitting outfielder.Shady wrote: ↑20 Jun 2025 14:04 pmOther than opening up a potential spot on the infield. Then move Arenado before next season and it leaves Donovan, Saggese and Wetherholt at 2B and 3B.
Should Cardinals explore a trade for Robert?

The one thing I’ll say is Robert’s underlying numbers aren’t bad.
K% is lower than last year
BB% is best of his career (and has been trending up for a few years), nearly 10% and that was a big weakness for him
EV/Max EV are still very good at 90/115.8
Barrel% is 11%, still very good
Hard hit% is best since 2021 at 42.9%
LD% still good at 20%
Chase rate is a career low
Contact rate is better than last couple years
Zone contact rate is down a bit though
Swinging strike% is one of his lowest of his career
His BABIP is a career low .264 and his HR/FB is also the worst of his career (similar issue to Gorman).

Not the kind of move the Cardinals make
But he needs a change of scenery

I'd offer the White Sox their choice of either Gorman or Walker. In exchange for Robert and them paying half of Robert's remaining salary.

Don’t follow the AL but when I saw his numbers Tuesday I was shocked.
No idea he was that bad!
But when I looked up his career numbers he’s really only had that big 2023 season.
Injuries??
I did notice that 2026 & 2027 are both TEAM Options at $20M per.
As always it depends on the cost.

No way should the Cards any good value prospects for Robert. He is on the IL a lot. Hasn't done much the last couple of years. I don't think the Cards want that contract. Cards can always use more pitching.

If Burleson wasn't becoming such a productive corner outfielder, I would have been OK with a Gorman for Robert trade.
