He did a bang up job today lifting McGreevy after 76 pitches and OBrien after 14.
just an idiot manager
And staying with Leahy when he clearly didn't have it

Why? Because to paraphrase Lt. Col. Kilgore: I love the smell of exploding heads in the morning!
I enjoy a good head exploding but winning pennants is far better.
Which head?

The players decide the outcome well over 90% of the time.
The Manager can only do so much if the talent/performance isn’t there.
Having said that. After 4 years his negative impact on the team is far greater than the positive impact.
I’ve asked this before.
What positive quality does he bring to the team?

29 other MLB teams are hoping the Cards retain the Marmot.

Indeed. Today when he pulled McGreevy early all I could think of was, gee, double header, save pen, starter is cruising. Typical Marmol bonehead move. He is not a good manager and most of us have know this for several years. I hope this is his last season....

He was pitching on the shortest rest he has done all year.

Such decisions are not made by Oli alone. They are made by a collaborative group made up of Oli, the numbers geek, Mo, the medical staff and maybe the pitching coaches. Oli’s job is to execute the decisions made through this collaboration and then defend it to the media. People have simply got to stop thinking Oli has the same decision making autonomy as Whitey or TLR.

Get him a mop, bucket, wringer, and three pairs of overalls.
He figures to clean up in that capacity.

MO was not on the phone telling Oli when to pull the starter and what pitchers to use from the pen.

Oli is on with the Gas House Gang on KMOX every Tuesday. You can text in your questions to KMOX line or to Bernie. They will ask good questions. Oli is very up front and responsive responsive in discussing reasons behind his decisions.
You can get your questions in ahead of time to the phone number. Listen to the cast later in the day or week. You don't have to listen live.
I've done this a couple of times. The Gang is very good at collecting and posing questions respectfully and Oli is really good about giving insight and answering respectfully.
You could try that if you really want to know why he pulled McGreevy. Yes you have to go through the KMOX broadcaster firewall. No you don't get to just berate and insult him anonymously.

Oli is a player development Manager, one best suited for the minor leagues.
Hopefully Bloom sends him there at seasons end.

What negative quality does he bring? Are you comfortable with the talent he has to work with? Are you aware of how many games in a row they are playing in June?
Didn't he take the NL Central with a 93 win team when he had some talent?
Are they where you thought they'd be before the season started or have they outperformed your expectations?
I'm curious to see if you can answer these

If we won a pennant with Oli in charge heads would explode exponentially.
It would be a chain reaction like we've never seen before.
If we won a pennant with Ollie in charge, we would be in a parallel universe.

Watch T. Francona this weekend, he's a great Manager getting way more out of the Reds "meh" roster.
