Re: Taking Fastballs down middle with 2 strikes
It does seem Cardinals hitters (other than I. Hererra, Donny and WillyC) watch more "meatballs" right down the middle of the plate instead of ripping at them.
The reality may be that the majority of our hitters just aren't good hitters.

They need to be coached to sit fastball and adjust off-speed versus looking off-speed.
You can not look off-speed and adjust to 100 MPH heat.
Waino was do ineffective the last few seasons because they could sit on his curveball and adjust to his very slow fastball

Re: Taking Fastballs down middle with 2 strikes
What you need to know as a batter is what is that pitchers 'out pitch' as they call it . What does he throw a vast majority of the time to get a guy out for strike 3 ? He may be a 100 mph speed pitcher but that doesn't necessarily mean that he goes to fast ball on 2 strike pitch especially if he is ahead in the count .Basil Shabazz wrote: ↑16 Jun 2025 08:52 am They need to be coached to sit fastball and adjust off-speed versus looking off-speed.

Maybe a better strategic approach would have been a better choice.
