I like this deal for SF, legit and proven MOTOB. With a fresh start he could have a great career. Still had a lot of good prime years left

To be fair, the RSox acquired his replacement and didn't even tell him,. poor communication to your best player and hitter. But I understand both sides

What a weekend for Boston. Red Sox sweep the Yanks and hours later they ship out their top offensive player. The feud with Devers must have run much hotter than was reported in the media.

Probably an incredible deal for both teams. Boston gets out of that awful contract, the bad attitude, and opens up a spot for Anthony without trading one of their outfielders- all while adding pitching. The Giants get the kind of bat that they haven't been able to sign and sorely need.

Have you seen Devers contract?
Hey Siri, who traded Mookie Betts and then gave Rafael Devers that massive contract?

Oh, Chaim Bloom?
Blue font type of post, right?

Given the reported players involved, neither team is done making moves.
100% guarantee both have another move already planned.
I don't know; the Giants are taking on a ginormous contract with Devers, after extending 3B Matt Chapman for huge bucks. as the Sox transfer their attention to super rookies Kristian Campbell and Roman Anthony.

Of course, given ESPN's total obsession with all things Noo Yawk and Bahsten, they'll be equating Rafael Devers with Barry Bonds,Willie Mays, and Willie McCovey, even though he's never even hit .300.....and Oracle Park is huge. Right now for the Giants it sucks to be Wilmer Flores, Casey Schmitt, and Dominic Smith.

Nope. I've never liked Bloom. I don't like Mo either but Bloom also completely wrecked the Red Sox. I'm not looking forward to him taking over. I've said it on numerous threads

Yeah, 235 with a belly at 28 is quite possibly 250 by 30. Next thing you know, the giants have their next Pablo Sandoval. Might not go down that way but it’s plausible this contract doesn’t age well. They usually don’t even with guys who are in shape.

Just a few days after Aaron Civela got traded for refusing to leave the Brewers' rotation and pitch in the bullpen. Just imagine being a GM today and threatening to trade a clubhouse lawyer to Colorado, Pittsburgh, Sacramento, or Miami.

But we're only in the 4th inning at Dodger Stadium and Karl Ravech of ESPN has been carrying on like this is the JFK assassination; 9/11, Pearl Harbor, and the eventual L. A. Big One combined.

Even the great and beloved Tony Gwynn, who once stole 56 bases for the Padres and is still the all-time assists leaders in San Diego State basketball history, ballooned mightily late in his MLB career.

And, is it just me, or is Juan Soto --- never a plus OF'er --- already growing a pooch with his gilded deal?

Sox had obviously had enough of Devers and his act.
A little surprised Giants took on that contract with a player that seems to have some issues?
Then again they may feel they have to roll the dice a bit seeing as they are up against the Dodgers and Padres?
Devers owed $255M. Time will tell.
The Giants can't be too worried about his "issues". They had Barry Bonds on the roster for 15 years. We'll see if we get "Slugout in the Dugout Part Deux".

Red Sox did get a decent haul for Devers and the Giants are in good position to make the playoffs. Looks like a possible win win for both teams.

Bloom….take the reigns and start dealing so you can have YOUR team in ‘26 and not lose another YEAR
You can deal a few now and probably end up with a better team…..Get er done
The Cardinals traded for Lou Brock on this date in 1964. But Mozeliak wasn't around then.

Just a few days after Aaron Civela got traded
Civela will start for the White Sox and if he performs well he's an attractive get for a playoff contender and could fetch the Sox something nice in return. Everyone wins.

Not seeing what was wrong with the Devers contract. He signed it at 26 and was and still is an elite MOTB. Theres nothing bad about that deal as of right now

Also, Bloom was ordered to trade Betts, this has been explained in detail many times. Mostly to tank who refuses to accept it because he despises Bloom as much as you do.
