I like this deal for SF, legit and proven MOTOB. With a fresh start he could have a great career. Still had a lot of good prime years left

Oh, Chaim Bloom?
I don't know; the Giants are taking on a ginormous contract with Devers, after extending 3B Matt Chapman for huge bucks. as the Sox transfer their attention to super rookies Kristian Campbell and Roman Anthony.
Nope. I've never liked Bloom. I don't like Mo either but Bloom also completely wrecked the Red Sox. I'm not looking forward to him taking over. Yeah, 235 with a belly at 28 is quite possibly 250 by 30. Next thing you know, the giants have their next Pablo Sandoval. Might not go down that way but it’s plausible this contract doesn’t age well. They usually don’t even with guys who are in shape.scoutyjones2 wrote: ↑15 Jun 2025 18:19 pmHave you seen Devers contract?Whatashame wrote: ↑15 Jun 2025 18:15 pm Not knowing everyone involved, the Giants have to be ecstatic about acquiring Devers and getting out from under the contract to Hicks.![]()
Just a few days after Aaron Civela got traded for refusing to leave the Brewers' rotation and pitch in the bullpen. Just imagine being a GM today and threatening to trade a clubhouse lawyer to Colorado, Pittsburgh, Sacramento, or Miami.Talkin' Baseball wrote: ↑15 Jun 2025 19:09 pm Probably an incredible deal for both teams. Boston gets out of that awful contract, the bad attitude.........
Even the great and beloved Tony Gwynn, who once stole 56 bases for the Padres and is still the all-time assists leaders in San Diego State basketball history, ballooned mightily late in his MLB career.
The Giants can't be too worried about his "issues". They had Barry Bonds on the roster for 15 years. We'll see if we get "Slugout in the Dugout Part Deux".Cusecards wrote: ↑15 Jun 2025 18:17 pm Wow!
Sox had obviously had enough of Devers and his act.
A little surprised Giants took on that contract with a player that seems to have some issues?
Then again they may feel they have to roll the dice a bit seeing as they are up against the Dodgers and Padres?
Devers owed $255M. Time will tell.
Red Sox did get a decent haul for Devers and the Giants are in good position to make the playoffs. Looks like a possible win win for both teams.TAFKAP wrote: ↑15 Jun 2025 19:40 pmThe Giants can't be too worried about his "issues". They had Barry Bonds on the roster for 15 years. The Cardinals traded for Lou Brock on this date in 1964. But Mozeliak wasn't around then.
Civela will start for the White Sox and if he performs well he's an attractive get for a playoff contender and could fetch the Sox something nice in return. Everyone wins.Just a few days after Aaron Civela got traded
Not seeing what was wrong with the Devers contract. He signed it at 26 and was and still is an elite MOTB. Theres nothing bad about that deal as of right nowvegascardsfan5890 wrote: ↑15 Jun 2025 19:17 pmNope. I've never liked Bloom. I don't like Mo either but Bloom also completely wrecked the Red Sox. Also, Bloom was ordered to trade Betts, this has been explained in detail many times. Mostly to tank who refuses to accept it because he despises Bloom as much as you do.
