Arenado on multiple occasions has said Winn emerging into star player. One of slickest defensive SS in game with cannon arm.
I agree extend Winn now do not trade him. He has some Renteria-esque spark plug qualities. He can hit for clutch. But I think he will hit more home runs than Renteria. Could be a 20/20 player one day.
He will never be a 20/20 player
But he will be a Winner, irregardless.

Too SS make huge bucks in FA.. currently in $25M per year range.
Winn has 3 years til FA. He may want to test the waters .
If Cards can’t extend him, then trade him . Open to return but would like to see a power bat in a deal.
The one thing you don ‘t want is to have him play out his deal here and get a comp pick only. Got to resign him or blockbuster deal if you can’t keep him.
Thankfully Mo won't be making this decision. Otherwise, a comp pick is exactly how it would end.

With Nolan screwing everything up with his NTC, it would make since to trade Winn or JJ or Donovan in a deal.

Just putting it out there for discussion, not because I’m advocating(at this time).
If JJW is a plus capable SS, should the Cardinals consider trading Masyn Winn?
I bring this up, because the Cards would have to probably do something risky or provocative to get the franchise out of Jeff Fisher territory.
What would Winn’s value be on the market? Could we get either a front of the rotation starter who is cost controlled? An OF power bat that is cost controlled?
As I said, just for discussion at this point.
No, no, nooooooo! Weatherholt is fine just where he is in the minors. Winn is the shortstop for the foreseeable future. There is nothing wrong with where things are at now. We need to see if Winn is an all star, right now he is still just average with potential. Cards just need to keep playing them both at their levels and let them fight it out to see who will emerge. None of these guys have done anything.

You trad Hurdy. He's much older and seems to be injury prone but still has great value.

Ideal but I’m not sure how long he is locked in. Two years?
