I was one of Noot's biggest boosters and fully admit it.
Even said they should extend both he and Donovan (at least I think I got one right) and that he was our best all round OF'er.
I fell for Noot's statcast numbers, thought he'd be an above average hitter given those metrics.
(And they're still lying given his exit velo/hard hit rate/bat speed are still in the upper tier of MLB!)
It appears those of us who did have been wrong.
great job of manning up

Give it a try sometime, Shady.

Mike Antico is hitting 328 with 18 stolen bases at Memphis. Maybe he deserves a shot at taking Nootbaars spot

Some of you need to work on your fraud sniffer…..watch the player and don’t pay attention those rate stat lines unless backed by full seasons

I dont think Noot is anything special but he has been a decent player when healthy. And he has been good in leadoff compared to anyone else we have. Before this terrible slump he was second behind Ohtani in the keague as a lead off hitter. A player is never as bad as they look when in a terrible slump. But he is playing terribly in the moment.

He's had a really bad week.
Hopefully he comes out of it soon. Maybe he needs a break and some time hitting lower in the order to work out of whatever funk he's gotten himself into.
Well at least Oli is smart enough that he has moved him down in the order until he gets going again. I mean can you imagine if your leadoff hitter was 1-32 and was still batting leadoff...Good thing Oli is on top of that.

Why wouldn't he take over for CF? He plays all 3

I liked Noot, too. He' just looked like a good ball player. And he's played pretty well at times. Now I've seen slumps before, but this is ridiculous. Really needs a slump buster of some kind. Also, the good managers used to send the runner on first when a slumping batter was up. Forced the batter to go the other way, watch the ball, let it travel deep into the zone and make contact. Then wallah! Timing comes back, he gets a hit and comes out of his slump. We've seen it before. Plenty of times. The way Noot and the Redbirds are playing, there's absolutely nothing to lose.
