I am not sure he has much more to offer than Texier or Joseph

I think I'd rather make a run at Dvorak in this scenario more of a 3rd liner decent FO% may cost a little more I believe he made $5 mill would he go for 3 years? Still has some warts but he's a legit 15 goal 30 pt ish center

Roslovic plays C but otherwise pretty similar caliber players IMO.Zizzle1297 wrote: ↑14 Jun 2025 15:10 pm I am not sure he has much more to offer than Texier or Joseph

No way. Doesn't peak my interest one bit. I would rather go with Dvo/Dean and live through the growing pains. Roslovich is 54% on faceoffs, but I would rather have someone 55% to 60%, or higher. Carolina is really good offensively, so I expect stats to be distorted.

It wouldn't surprise me to see Dean win a job out of camphockey jedi wrote: ↑14 Jun 2025 20:44 pm No way. Doesn't peak my interest one bit. I agree that I'm not interested in Roslovic.hockey jedi wrote: ↑14 Jun 2025 20:44 pm No way. Doesn't peak my interest one bit. I would rather go with Dvo/Dean and live through the growing pains. However, that kind of expectation on FO% is just ridiculously unrealistic.
54% on FO's is easily top 50 in the League.
55-60% on faceoffs is "elite" territory.
54% is easily "faceoff specialist" territory in today's NHL.
That said, I don't buy for one second that Roslovic is a legit FO specialist.
In his previous seasons, his career high on the dot was 47.2%. Historically, he's been a terrible faceoff guy.
Last year, he took a total of 355 draws last year, an average of a little over 4 faceoff's per game. I definitely expect more than that from a true faceoff specialist.
Roslovic spent huge chunks of the year on the wing and got 62% offensive zone starts(which also skew the numbers). The 54% is a complete mirage in this case(this is Troy Brouwer going 57% on the dot). Roslovic is not really a center at this point. He doesn't have the defensive game for it and his FO numbers take a nose dive when he gets repeated draws. Not a bad player, but not a fit for what we need(not that there are any "good" options available in the UFA market).

but but... he's already TWENTY TWO!!seattleblue wrote: ↑14 Jun 2025 14:42 pmI don't know ... put me in the more likely than not that he does make it. I had him relegated lower on my list of prospects (I think the last one I posted I forgot him) but he did come back and look suprisingly good at the end of the year for Springfield. It was noticeable. He had a cup of coffee with the Blues and looked like a possible player. You're right he got derailed but he showed me enough that I'd leave the door open to him returning to the big club at some point. He might not win a spot out of camp but he could get games this year. There's plenty yet unsettled at the center spot. I don't think he's out of the plans though.Backesdraft wrote: ↑14 Jun 2025 14:00 pmMan alive the fascination with Dean is, well, fascinating. Dude is already 22 years old, hasn’t stayed healthy, hasn’t sniffed the NHL outside of a cup of coffee 2 seasons ago and a few are still pencilling him in for 3C minutes. Guys…reality check time. Dean is going to be lucky to see any NHL time again in his career. He’s been lapped by other, younger prospects. You can blame it on injuries if you want but that doesn’t change the reality of the situation.zamadoo wrote: ↑14 Jun 2025 13:26 pmDean looked ready last year until he got hurt and rode the injury train for almost the entire season. He may need some time in the AHL, but he's sort of my dark horse to make the team out of camp. He finished the season well in Springfield. I don't see Dvorsky starting at wing unless there is an injury or two and they'd rather get him in than others who are older. Currently, there's no wing spot available. There is a C spot available. It's up to these guys to prove it though, and I could certainly see Army acquiring a stop-gap veteran.Army's Mom wrote: ↑14 Jun 2025 12:22 pmDean still needs time in the AHL IMHO. I'd rather just roll Dean/Dvorsky or re-sign Faksa.
Faksa is a good 4th liner, but hadnt averaged more than 15m a game in years. They need someone who can push Sunny down.
I'd hate to see them sign Roslovic to a multi-year deal, but if they think he's good enough for an offensive 3C I wouldn't cry about a 1 year deal.

Had it not been for injury he's probably already at least the 4th center he looked promising in his brief look with the big team. I think if Dean has a good offseason and stays injury free he is going to come into camp and make some noise. I’ll be shocked if he doesn’t see some games this year. He’s still think he’s ends up a 3C unless injuries get the best of him.

That line could be trouble in a few years

Yeah that line could be trouble. I was sort of picturing Torpo playing with Peterson. As far as Dean goes I’m still thinking he ends up being a really strong 3C that can fill in as 2C in if it’s needed.
