Not the reason. Everybody breaks down plays. Him being out has hurt our defense. With our staff and fragility any run given away is serious.

I'd respectfully point out that Walker had 11 RBI in his last 15 games. He was beginning to produce, both at the plate and in the field.
No, he's not the reason for the recent slide...but it sure hasn't helped, either.
Yet more proof of how skewed WAR can be. Jordan made several catches in RF Burleson couldn't make in his dreams. Additionally, during the Cards false hope streak, Walker's clutch RBIs led to multiple victories.
Of course, he was often lost at the plate outside of those big moments, but sure do miss those now.

Good point, Dog. If I squint just right, Alec Burleson reminds me of Joe Hague in the OF. I remember Jack Buck saying of Joe Hague once that he makes spectacular catches on routine fly balls.

With respect I’m not sure that is a top 5 reason for skid.
Fair. What would top five be. That wasn’t influenced by poor defense.
Inconsistent pitching
Helsley. I list this separate. When pitching good enough he wasn’t.
Lack of overall hitting.
Donovan out.
I can’t list 5 so throw Walker in there

Now 3-9. Combined with Donovan it’s a lethal one two punch to the gut.

Now with Donovan back, we should see more consistent winning. Yes there will be loses still, maybe some heart breakers, but we will win more often.
