Who goes first and what does the return look like? Not a lot of pieces that need to move would fetch much at all, is everyone available?

This - no way should they QO Helsley. Trade him, although the return won’t be what it could have been.Honky Tonk Man wrote: ↑13 Jun 2025 07:25 amIf you give Helsley a QO you may get stuck with a 20 million dollar closer, when that money could be better spentBrockFloodMaris wrote: ↑12 Jun 2025 22:47 pmRH gets a QO. Let's see where RH is in 4-5 weeks. My guess is that the path forward on RH will be more obvious then.Honky Tonk Man wrote: ↑13 Jun 2025 07:25 amIf you give Helsley a QO you may get stuck with a 20 million dollar closer, when that money could be better spentBrockFloodMaris wrote: ↑12 Jun 2025 22:47 pmRH gets a QO. BP: Helsley, Matz, Maton and King.
Starters: Mikolas and Fedde.
Position players: Arenado, Noot and Pozo.
Comments: Noot is who he is. Enough ABs to know who is: .350ish OBP, 15 HR guy with avg. speed. This would play well in CF. Need more pop from LF. Put Donny in LF, Gorman at 2B. If you can trade Arenado, Gorman to 3B. Get Saggese reps at 2B. Lastly, wouldn’t hurt to introduce Herrera to the OF.

Re: Looks like a selling deadline…
The next few weeks are going to be telling.
If the slide continues and they fall well behind, then Mo/Bloom have to put the "FOR SALE" signs up.
Helsley
Fedde
Matz
Mikolas/NADO if they'll waive

I don’t disagree with you on Gorman. That said, I would like to see him get a good run of games to see if Brant Brown’s influence will help him. I think he was clueless by the end of last season and maybe Brown can get to him. Maybe not. Nothing to lose giving him rest of 2025 to figure it out. Move on in 2026 if he doesn’t.Honky Tonk Man wrote: ↑13 Jun 2025 10:14 amLook's like a good plan, I just don't think Gorman is going to get much betterpeterman'srealitytour wrote: ↑13 Jun 2025 08:46 am BP: Helsley, Matz, Maton and King.

rest of the year is fair, we just got a little too much hope up when they were pitching well, the team is going nowhere the next couple of years.peterman'srealitytour wrote: ↑13 Jun 2025 11:16 amI don’t disagree with you on Gorman. agreeramfandan wrote: ↑12 Jun 2025 21:39 pm Helsley is the key trade chip not regarding the Cardinals but other teams seeking a closer. Yes, he isn't the career year he had last year but his
value at the trade deadline could be very good if there is a bidding war especially if the Phillies & Mets would both want him.
Both teams could use a good closer and play in the same division. Getting Helsley and preventing the other team from NOT getting him would be a big deal for the team acquiring him.
Cards should be 'open minded' listen to offers and play the scenario out to the end .

Ok I wasn’t thinking of the comp pick just roster construction.craviduce wrote: ↑12 Jun 2025 21:33 pmthey need to try and trade what they can before the draft...desperately try and get a Comp Pick from a team to get an extra pick in this draft.Cusecards wrote: ↑12 Jun 2025 21:31 pmDeadline is almost 7 weeks away.Baseball Dude wrote: ↑12 Jun 2025 21:26 pmI think they should do what should have happened last year at this time. We need to clear playing time for the future, not who we are paying, we need a new voice in the dugout, and we need a better pipeline of players ready to perform. I’m not saying we need to have a never ending line of all stars, just the next guy up to hold the line.
Too early to speculate on trades. I like them going with the youth with the position guys.
I like Contreras moving forward as a leader.
Arenado could certainly be dealt.
The pitching staff will be going through changes especially with the rotation heading into 2026.
Hopefully we start to see more of the younger arms as the season progresses.
Teams with Competitive Balance picks are Boston, Yankees, Dodgers, Mariners, Marlins, Mets, Twins, Tigers....picks 33-43
Obviously the pending FA’s will be featured.
Re: Looks like a selling deadline…
NA to the Dodgers plus $10 million for 2026 for their Comp pick.craviduce wrote: ↑12 Jun 2025 21:33 pmthey need to try and trade what they can before the draft...desperately try and get a Comp Pick from a team to get an extra pick in this draft.Cusecards wrote: ↑12 Jun 2025 21:31 pmDeadline is almost 7 weeks away.Baseball Dude wrote: ↑12 Jun 2025 21:26 pmI think they should do what should have happened last year at this time.
