What was the offer they should have taken?
Don’t be obtuse, you know there were trades to be made if they tried.
No I don't and neither do you or you would state some.
Again, you’re being obtuse, ignoring the fact the we as fans do not know what was offered. Why ask for something you know someone can’t provide?
Because you make an unsubstantiated claim that implies trading is like going to a grocery store...I see it, I get it.

What top closer from last year was traded and what was the haul?

Even relief pitchers have slumps. He still has dominating stuff, he's just located some bad pitches. You have to keep putting him out there. Demoting him doesn't help the Cards or his trade value. Way too many whiners on this board.

Of the closers in baseball available , he still will have suitors at the deadline.
And how many saves have those other closers blown?

Cards have a fetish for staying with a busted closer well past their Sell By date...so I figure Helsley will have his spot until the middle of next season before a change is made after the Cards re-sign him for some stupid amount. At this point its try anyone else because 5 blown saves out of 18 isn't a good percentage. He's giving up way too many hittable balls because he can't K anyone like he used to, BBs are up, hits are up

From Denton:

Irritation in his toe near the end of Spring Training led to trainers inserting a plate into Helsley’s shoe – something he thought kept him from properly pushing off the mound and causing a drop in fastball velocity that regularly remained in triple-digit ranges last season. Helsley said that chain of events led to some bad habits as he tried to regain his velocity and started overthrowing instead of driving off the rubber with his legs.

“I fell in a bad habit there at the end of Spring and early in the season – like the first week – and then it showed up for like a month,” Helsley admitted. “I’ve felt really good these last few weeks, but I haven’t had great results. Sometimes, baseball just happens. I’m trying to just keep working, stay out there and stay after it.”

So he’s blown five saves because of a toe. Got it…

Ok then provide a link that says that no offers were made or considered for Helsley. I can also be obtuse like you and ASSume that if I didn’t hear about it that it must not have happened…

Well when Mo said this offseason 1,,2,3 priority was trading Arenado and he didnt get it done meaning he was continuously working on trading him and the fact that Mo said he would rather keep Helsely and not trade him then that adds up to he wasnt spending much time on even attempting to trade Helsley unless Mo was lying about everything he said

Of course....however he isn't blaming the toe for his performance..he says he's felt great just not getting the job done....I think he will be fine...he could reel off 12 to 15 in a row...I think he turns it around quickly....

Hope so, the Cards have no shot if he can't get straightened out soon.

That hurt last night w/the Cubs, Padres, Brewers all losing.

Isringhausen 2.0 is starting to look as bad as the original. Every inning is an adventure. Last year I had confidence; this year I have ulcers.

Since April 9, the Cardinals are 17-2 in games he has appeared. Last night being the second loss. Also 12 saves in that stretch. He’s gotta little Izzy in him.
