He has a .998 OPS, a bad few games doesn’t change his lineup spot or how his outlook is.
He's a high 700 OPS hitter once all is said and done

Yes
Got off to a hot start. Cold stretch. Most hitters periodically have them.
Did we expect Herrera to hit .380 for the season???

The more concerning thing is the almost total power outage. 3 of his 5 home runs came in one game, and he has one since he came back. The hits he is getting are singles.

+1 people think anytime a hitter slumps which every hitter does then that’s who they are and they will never get hot again. At the beginning of the year people were saying Winn needed to be sent down that he lost it
Some people also think any time a hitter gets hot he’s figured something out and will never revert to what they’ve always been.
That would be fine if he did revert to what he’s always been he’s a career .299 hitter .379 .820OPS hitter in 432 plate appearances that would play. I’m shocked people are talking about him because he didn’t keep hitting .400 lol it was never going to happen he like all hitters was eventually going to slump

I do think that’s roughly who Herrera is give or take 15-20 OPS points. A productive hitter. Not a cleanup hitter on a contending team.

Oli weakness as manager is too stay too long with somebody

Case 1 - Leahy

He rode him until he broke, no need to keep pushing

Case 2 - Herrera and Catcher

Herrera was incredibly hot and was gonna cool off, he cooled off about 10 games ago, good manager sees it coming before 6-40, give Gorman some run at DH

Your lineup would be considerably stronger if you selectively caught Herrera twice a week, Pages needs 2-3 tops and Pozo can catch Libby

I agree with this when JWalk is back in RF. With JWalk out though, it makes Oli want to put Burly in RF and that hurts the defense IMO. But, with JWalk back I'd like to see...

Noot LF
Winn SS
Donny 2B
Contreras 1B
Herrera C
Nado 3B
Burly/Gorman DH
JWalk RF
VSII CF

If you are facing more of a running team, then place Pages/Pozo at catcher and Herrera at DH. Especially against LHP.

The power would be nice but I’m more concerned with RISP.
Would be nice if hitters like Arenado would stop popping up in the clutch.
HR’s would be great but how about a single or sac fly???

We are 4th in the NL and 6th overall in average with RISP. But we need more power. We are tied for 25th in HRs. Surrounded by teams like the Rockies, White Sox, Marlins, Pirates, etc. I do like the doubles that we are getting though as we are 4th in the MLB and 3rd in the NL in doubles. But the power outage is a real problem. Our typical 3-4-5 has a combined 15 HRs. There are 9 players in baseball with at least that many HRs.

Exactly. With RISP I will take a single to RF every time. Score the run. Sure, if you get up 2-0, then take a shot at the bleachers, but give me the Donnie type hitter that gets the run in. Herrera will be that guy most of the time. I don't want him swinging for the fences on every pitch. That is WC's problem sometimes, and certainly Nado's most all the time.

LoL. Relievers are very rarely reliable, unless you are one of the few elites. Oli didn't break anyone.

Herrera gets way too much love on here
He has no position in the field as he is a horrible catcher and has 1 HR in the month of May
Too many on here got hot and bothered with 3 HRs in one game.

Pages is the best catcher on the team
POZO is a typical backup

UniKKKorn isn't viable and needs to be in AAA, and Saggese or someone else up

He still hit .318/.405/.439 in the month of May. He had 5 doubles, 15 RBI, and 11 runs in 19 games with 9 BB-13 K’s in 79 PA.

Herrera needs a break against righties, slumping 6 for last 40
Yes but this really shows lack of outfield depth. Donovan should be at second but he is being forced to outfield.

He's hitting too many groundballs, not sure what's up with that.

Pages is a typical b/u as well.

Herrera's bat plays and he must be in the line-up offensively more than Pages or Pozo. Herrera should catch a few games and DH the others. Herrera's last 3 series have been rough for sure, but he has proven to be a run producing bat thus far and needs to play. I won't let 10 games over shadow the other 17 games at this point. He has earned a chance to see what he really is over a longer run.

Plus, Pozo should probably play more than he is as well because his bat is 10X better than Pages.
