As a Cardinal...Contreras:

2023 .826 OPS
2024 .848 OPS

why do continually compare these two? It just makes you look dumber than you already are (if that's possible).
In 2025 Contreras got off to the worst start of his career and still leads the team with 31 RBI while mashing 16 XBH's.

Since becoming a Cardinal in 2023, Contreras has a combined 6.6 fWAR. In that exact same time frame, your beloved Burly sits at 0.4.

You need to stop comparing them. It just shows your utter lack of baseball acumen.
His comments are all over the map.
If he is serious about “talking baseball” he needs to stop starting daily repetitive threads that fixate on the same few players.
Right now the obsession is with Burleson/Saggese/Roby.
Then stop talking around in circles.
Also...maybe comment more in threads started by others and not feeling forced to start threads?

Everyone knows how this shtick goes: Burleson inevitably will hit a HR or two at some point, and Shady will quickly pivot back to saying Burleson should platoon with or replace Contreras, or be the full-time DH (even against LHP), etc.

It’s the same old thing over and over and over again. Just like his perennial “I’m going to take a break and make changes” routine. Wash, rinse, repeat.

For me it’s probably easier to list who I wouldn’t trade-
Herrera
Donovan
Winn
Scott
Walker

Libby
Pallante

Minors
Matthews
McGreevy
Roby

There is only one list, and you don’t want to be on it.

Well yeah, we lost, so trade them all.

Yesterday we won so if you had asked me then, not only should we keep them, we need to buy at the deadline.

I think it's more....

1. We can't win on the road. 14-18.
2. We're 4 games back.
3. We scored what...4 runs in 3 games?
4. No faith in Oli.

Might be more than one game, yet either way, Cards will have some decisions to make by the trade deadline. Are they buyers, sellers, or a combination of both.

. Plays multiple positions and last I looked was hitti.g in the .280s
Are you kidding? Yeah, he can play the corner OF & first base. But he doesn't play them well. He can't run....one of the slower players in MLB.

Now...about hitting in the .280's. Well, okay...he's hitting .279. But it's a soft .279 as evidenced by his .403 SLG%. Thats not good when hitting and running slow is all you can do. He has 11 XBH's & 16 RBI all season.

I'd love to trade him, but come on...who needs a player like this?

So could Burly with half of his games at altitude hit +.800 OPS at home and around .700 on the road to be an all around decent hitter for the Rockies, possibly as a 1B for the Rockies? I think it's very possible he could, and looking at their current very weak offense be a MOTOB for them.
If the Cards could target a Rockies P as an example that a change of altitude could be a much better potential P than his current stats, maybe a win win trade could be formulated.

Great thought. A lot of the balls he hits that are caught are doubles and homeruns in Denver. His bat to ball skills are undeniable against right handed pitching.

That's an interesting approach. I'd add Saggese to the Minors list. He should be with the Cardinals. He's a better hitter than some currently on the team.
