Re: EDM/DAL
The Crane is just the best hockey player I’ve ever watched.
Re: EDM/DAL
And Skinner lets a softie in early in the 3rd. Right through the wickets.
Re: EDM/DAL
I like Robertsson. Elusive.

Re: EDM/DAL
Oh man, brutal weird goal for Edmonton.
Re: EDM/DAL
Pulling oetty was a terrible coaching move
Re: EDM/DAL
Eh, I don't know. It was 3-0 then, and the 2 scored since then were not very stoppable. McDavid can beat anybody. And the other one was booted in by the Dallas D.
And, as PK Subban pointed out in the intermission, the right point man for Dallas on the McDavid goal was out of position, leaving McDavid all alone in the middle of the ice. Big mistake.
Re: EDM/DAL
Stars could barely get a shot on goal in the last 10 minutes. Totally outclassed by the Oilers.
Same SCFs as last year.

Re: EDM/DAL
I agree. Go with what got you there. Now you just put more doubt in his mind.
Jake Oettinger, a goaltender for the Dallas Stars, signed an eight-year, $66 million contract extension on October 17, 2024. This contract, officially begins in the 2025-26 season
Might as well just trade him .
Re: EDM/DAL
DeBoer just said Oettinger lost 6 of the last 7 over 2 years vs Oilers in the playoffs and gave up 2 goals on 2 shots tonight so the change needed to made. All of this is true information. However, I don't know how pulling a top 5 goalie in the league for a mediocre backup (maybe ranks between 40 and 45 in the league) improves your chances to win tonight in an elimination game. I've never liked DeBoer's antics and think less of even less of him after tonight.

Re: EDM/DAL
It was only 2-0 when he was pulled, then the backup let one in right away to make it 3-0. Total panic moveicon wrote: ↑29 May 2025 21:23 pmEh, I don't know. Re: EDM/DAL
Dallas never found their game the entire playoffs. They were -15 in goal differential despite going 9-9
They were horrible at even strength and only survived on their power play vs inferior competition.
Their supposed 3 line scoring depth was fake news. They scored only 2.5 GPG.
Johnston struggled mightily.
Duchene was trash.
Whatever team signs Duchene thinking he will be their 2C solution will be disappointed. He's more suited for wing at this point late in his career.
Rantanen only had 1 goal in the last 10 games.
They received a total of 3 goals from Marchment, Dadonov, and Benn. Those 3 combined for 58 in the regular season.
I can go on and on.
It will be interesting to watch what Jim Nill does this summer.
Just when he finally gets Benn's contract off the books, he adds Rantanen's 12 per that will age as bad as Benn's contract did.
The Stars will have to consolidate their top 6 forwards (assuming their UFA's leave) so Nill will have to rebuild the 3rd line.

Dallas has never found a solution at 2RHD.
They took their swings at trading for Tanev and Ceci the last 2 years.
Unless they can somehow dump dumb[ash] and/or Lyubushkin they won't be able to upgrade 2RHD until next year's TDL again.
Oettinger is solid but has never delivered when it counts.
It looks like he'll never come close to being a dominant goalie like he teased in his initial playoff series vs Calgary in 22. You'll remember that Dallas still lost that series.
His is still young and has the size & contract so there is always hope that one year he'll put together a great run in the spring.

After watching the Jets and Stars advance no one will convince me the Blues would have provided anything less than what I saw and far far more likely a whole lot more.
