He's not going to bring anything in return. Only reason you'd trade him would be to unload him and play someone else. Maybe that's a conversation we'd have in July if Wetherholt can slide in. Would much rather do that if the team is out of it. To take the pressure off that young group to let them get comfortable as a unit for next year.
If they would manage to trade Arenado, Would Gorman move to 3B no matter what? Or would they call up Saggese and see if he can take up where he left off when he was up last time. Maybe, move Donovan to 3B and Saggese to 2B. Also, Prieto is continuing his fine hitting at Memphis. Maybe he deserves a look.
No, one of those players have to push the issue.

They should try Deniel Oritz or JonJon Gazdar at 3B.
I, personally want Yancel Guerrero or Yoerny Junco to man 3B.
Guru, just keep reporting on player's performances. Analysis isn't really your best suit. You aren't really as clever as you think you are either. Stick to reporting. Of course, you aren't into actually making a comment on Saggese and Prieto. Trying to demean Shady thrills you more. Maybe you aren't really a baseball guru after all.
What's wrong with wanting those 4 as my 3B?
Not a thing.
Ortiz has great opposite power field, and Guerrero, wow, he had quite the week.
I'll have to research the other 2, but have heard good things. Not sure they're quite ready though.

I’m starting to think NA is here to stay unless some team in contention becomes absolutely desperate for a good defensive third baseman. Even then I don’t see them taking on his salary.
This is a MAJOR problem for the organization.
And it can’t be just “some” team, it has to be one that Arenado would approve a deal to.
Which is why I’ve been of the belief that since he wasn’t traded in the offseason, he would end up being a Cardinal through his contract.
I don’t see it necessarily being terrible, you just have to realize we have an average offensive, great defensive 3B who is probably a future HOFer for the next 2.5 years.
You may be right. Unfortunately it is a very expensive defensive player taking up a spot from a younger player.

If Arenado contributes, somehow, to a run at the division or wildcard this season, Great. But after that, I can't see his presence in the lineup being positive for the development of some young players that really need the opportunity.

Maybe. Which young player will be ready to take over 3rd in the next two years? I certainly haven’t seen enough from Gorman to make me think he provides more to a winning team than Nado does. Perhaps Donovan if JJ can take over 2B, but until we see JJ hit in the majors that’s still just a projection. I think the start of this season shows that most fans are more interested in watching winning baseball than watching young guys develop (I.e. fail often) at the big leagues. I’m more than happy to ride out Nados contract with the knowledge that his offense will likely be just average.

Saggese is a fine hitter. If Gorman continues to K a lot. Donovan to 3B, Saggese to 2B may be the way to go. At least, until Wetherholt is ready. Then re-evaluate the situation.

I don’t know but I know Arenado shouldn’t be the cause of any young player not getting playing time except Gorman

Some teams might have some interest because of a need. However, I don't see the Cardinals getting much of an offer for him unless he gets more productive, offensively before the trade deadline. He is pretty average, currently.
This is why you are so valuable to the forum. I doubt anyone on here could have broke that down like you with no edits. Amazing.
Special insight, indeed! Usually one has to pay a hefty monthly fee to read analysis as good as Ole ShadyMaple!

Just what the forum needed, yet another Shady “Arenado trade” thread.
#Attention
you mean, he's talked about this very topic before?
Often. But the analysis he provides is beyond compare!

I know, right? What happened to guys kicking down the door and forcing their way in? Anytime some prospect (blue chip or not) starts hitting .280 with a little pop we have to alter the whole team now! Same with a bench player who has a couple good games.
