What does it take men. You gotta start somewhere. He has two rockets last two at bats. We have been begging for this, and we bench him. Maybe he is focused. Play him hot.TXCardsFanX wrote: ↑20 May 2025 08:00 amAgreed with all of this.ecleme22 wrote: ↑20 May 2025 07:22 amWhat are you talking about PP is becoming a beast behind the plate. Burleson at DH and Walker in RH

Walker has had a few hits in the last couple of games. But, he's hitting 0.211 over the last seven games with a 0.632 OPS. Meanwhile, Burleson is hitting 0.444 with a 1.333 OPS.
Walker needs to play, but not everyday. He's on thin ice, IMO.

Re: Play Walker
If he starts hitting…yes keep playing him. If wasting nearly 1/3 of the season being a complete dead zone in the lineup will happen with him annually, I’d rather have a more consistent bat in that spot.

He seems to be heating up. Would greatly extend the lineup, giving Scott an at bat. Gotta keep him in. Game face is a misnomer. It can’t be put on. It must be initiated and instigated. Once you say to yourself- game on mtrfckr, your there.
He’s at game face.

My guess is he starts tonight with a LHP on the mound. Bad news is it's last year's AL Cy Young winner.sikeston bulldog2 wrote: ↑20 May 2025 08:26 amHe seems to be heating up. He’s got a 0.4 bWAR. Among the 22 catchers that have at least 120 PAs, Pages fWAR is 18th. His defensive value is 10th out of the 22, so slightly above average.
I wouldn’t call him a beast. He’s done fine, he’s helped the team. But hardly a “beast”.
That said, I’m keeping Herrera at DH. The combo of Pages/Pozo at catcher is doing fine.
Re: Play Walker
number one is Herrera at DH PERIOD. As far as Walker he is mostly a dead spot in lineup who doesn't make consistent contact. Burly needs to be in Left field or spell WC at first base with Lars in right. Had unusual stretch with so many LHed starting pitchers who were really good. but believe I heard that his splits are better against RHers. Before the season mgt basically said they conceded this year and needed to find out what they had but SUPRISE They are playing outstanding Defense and their O is surprisingly second in NL for average. One thing that's improved is Walkers outfield play which is improved.
So you readjust and this is historically when Burly gets hot and can really be a big factor. Pitching has been outstanding and surprising since they let two solid starters walk but with Libatore suddenly discovering how to be very effective and rest very solid things and goals change.
It has been nice to see Walker put the barrel on the ball within the strike zone instead of lunging for outside pitches or getting jammed. This is why they get paid big bucks to manage and figure this stuff out. Will be interesting to see how they play.
BUT how do you get AB's for Gorman with the way Donovan is playing both hitting and defense? Or Lars or VC or Winn. I would think that both arenado and contreras need some rest with the mini slumps they are going thru. would give Gorman and burly needed AB's.
with the way herrera is fire and being basically less than average defensively at catcher need to figure out where else he would be good at simply for versatility.

Re: Play Walker
I'll stick with 'beast' given his expectations, plus the way he's supposedly handled the pitchers.Futuregm2 wrote: ↑20 May 2025 08:58 amA “beast” behind the plate?ecleme22 wrote: ↑20 May 2025 07:22 amWhat are you talking about PP is becoming a beast behind the plate.
