I'm thinking the Cardinals offense and defense are right there with the Cubs. But, what about pitching? I'm still a little concerned about Cardinals older starting pitchers. As far as consistency and durability. The good thing, the starting pitching has some depth. With McGreevy and Matz. And the Cards relief corps seems to have some nice potential. It looks to be a fun summer for Cardinals fans.

Your constant unimagitive speel demonstrates a very low IQ. But you probably have no clue. So, carry on, JO. This is my last response to your nonsense.

I read that in a really bad Russian accent. Like teddy kgb in rounders.

Last time. Your, apparently, low IQ, simpleton chit ain't going to intimidate me one iota. Why not, just cut the stupid chit, and just discuss Cardinals baseball?

Actually I think they're kind of even, Cards might be even better. Again, take away those 8 losses where the Cards had leads late and lost and win half of them and the Cards are in 1st. Win 3/4 of them and even better.

The cubs' offense is superior. They are second in the NL in HR, TB, SB, and BB, first in Runs scored and RBI.
They have lost their ace starting pitcher, Justin Steele, for the year with a UCL injury. Imanaga is currently on the IL with a hamstring strain and will probably be out until mid June. Taillon is struggling with a 4.53 ERA. Boyd and Rea are doing well lately. The bullpen is not good, with closer Pressly sporting an ERA of 6.91 and Hodge and Merryweather sucking as well.
So IMO the Cardinal bullpen is better, the current starting pitching is better, but the offense cannot match the cubs' power. Defensively the teams are probably about equal. Both teams have excellent fielding 2B, SS, and CF. Arenado is superior at 3B to any of the cubs' options.
Guru (craviducey), take note. This was a very informative post without the negativity you seem to thrive on with me. Grow up.
Shady-guy! Glad to see you asking a little better question this time instead of “who has bigger feet, Burly or Saggesse?”
I think your question could be very important in determining if a reset is even necessary, or if we can reload with a few aggressive moves and win this division now. As far as how they stack up, 12xu laid it out pretty good. They seem beatable, and the division winnable, but probably with a move or two. Now, who do you think has the bigger feet…?

So if we don’t count Cardinal loses then the Cardinals are better ? The Cubs have lost their share of these games also. Most teams have.

I think they have the better top end talent. Tucker and Shota. But I think they have several massively over-performing. PCA might be good but not this good. Carson Kelly come on. Boyd rea flexen Pomeranz etc all have long histories of injury or mediocre performances. I think we can hang with them I just don’t want rentals if we are in the race. Want to look long term year over year contention with a solid farm.

The true tests for the Cards are the next 5-6 series. One series win against the Phillies is great, as is beating teams you should, but here comes a run while the scrubs get a much easier strength of schedule.

Why are you manipulating record by removing losses?

He didn’t. He took eight games as a sample, but added them back in, hence the comment win half of them. That’s how I saw it.

Interesting.
We play the cubs once a month starting June 23. Then within ten days, Fourth of July we play again. Then not again til mid August. Then last series of year.
Think about this. No play for 2.7 months. Then once a month, with a month between games.odd.

Interesting article. Thanx. Yes the next 18 games will be crucial. Cubs face all the pressure.
