Ya think????
Time is running out as it is already May 13th!
Need to hurry and make some critical decisions!
Yeah, weird post.

WC isn’t a catcher anymore and IH is one of our best hitters.

What critical decisions do you mean?
Critical decisions was sarcasm.
The team is playing well and it’s all of May 13th.
What happened to “evaluating” and making hard decisions on younger guys in 2025??
Didn’t know 2025 meant May 13th??

I said nothing about time running out. My OP said "long term" - meaning plan for '26 and beyond, either offseason, or possibly at the trade deadline. The Draft could help us for '29, but we need production from RF before that.

Plenty of current posts about sending Walker down - but then what? Gorman isn't hitting. Others have suggested moving Donny back to LF, but he's playing like a GG at 2B. Which comes back to the too many Middle Infielders and prospects - Bararro looked Iffy in CF last night, Sagesse and JJW are both infielders. Winn is still our starter, and Donny should be full time at 2b, don't you think?
All of which seems to leave us long on middle infielders and short on Matt Holliday/Carlos Beltran type hitting RBI OFers. How do we rebalance long term?

Well one of those catchers is now a 1B, so that’s the way you have to view him. He’s a 1B man. Not a catcher. And he’s rated well as a defensive first baseman so far and his bat has definitely rebounded.

The other catcher is a DH because he can’t throw anyone out on the bases. But he can hit so we’re making room for him in the lineup.

And Nado should be hitting 6th or 7th.
Bingo

Herrera needs to be in the cleanup spot, NADO dropped to 5th or 6th at the highest.

2025 reset. play cut add.
2026 reset play cut add.
2027 true contender.

I'm enjoying the hell out of this run. Still, my enthusiasm for this team always seems to get tempered when reminded that Marmol is still the manager.

If Contreas got on base, followed by Herrera followed by pozo, you’d have bases loaded with catchers, then Pages hits a grand slam.

Instant major league record.

You could've just replied to your post about 'needing' a 30/100 guy, instead of writing an OP that says "we have three catchers in the lineup!"

First I totally agree with the Plat cut Add part. Mo hasn't added nearly enough but we are quickly getting to that point. Second, I'm not convinced a reset needs to take 3 year, or 4 years if you count 2023 when we started unloading vets for Saggesse et al. Look for sellers at the deadline or over the winter and make the right moves and we could be effective contenders in 2026. Also it doesn't always take a true contender to win a pennant - see the 2023 DBacks.

If they win reset truly began in 2023 then now would be the time to see progress. I think we have at least one more year.
