lol does Bichette have any say in the matter, or is the premise that the Cardinals will just offer far more than anyone else, and he can’t possibly refuse? Not at all laughable if true.

Aren't Fedde, Matz and MIkolas free agents? Better spend on a pitching staff.

This “reset” isn’t a singular season.
It would be a 1-3 year deal. You really think the DeWitts are going to hard-nose a 80m payroll?
80 is drastic

I don’t see a scenario where they’re looking at someone like Bichette

Have you seen anything in their behavior, or heard anything in their statements to indicate that they wouldn't do that?

After the work stoppage they will be perfectly situated. It could be different, but if I borrow your 80M figure- they are perfectly situated if there is a salary floor. They can spend some money to reach it while still having a "low" payroll. If there is a salary cap and some of the large market teams have hopelessly exceeded it already, they are positioned to capitalize on that. If they just want to go on being tightazzes they will be down to 80M. They also would then be perfectly situated if they did want to sell the team. The front office will be changed. The manager situation may be better. The player development will be better. They will have a TV deal figured out and may have public funding for stadium upgrades lined up by then. The gambling issues will be resolved. The team should be ready to contend and have a payroll that new ownership could take in any direction they care to. I see all of this as being much more likely than signing Bichette, or anyone else of significance.

Where did those years and numbers come from? Bichette's career earnings probably won't reach 225.

I'm hesitant to believe all of this until I hear it come out of Jim Bowden's mouth.

He's in the middle of his second "off" year. Do that too long and they start to call it a decline.

Pass

This team needs a true MOTO hitter, Bo isn't it.

Bo is going to get a lot of money somehow. And I don't know if I want us to pay it. I'm sure there were some injuries last year, but he didn't play well. And he's *just* okay this year. Just a couple pennies above a league average hitter.

Someone's going to overpay. The only way I get in on the Bo Bichette sweepstakes is if his market collapses (is he a Boras client?) and he's run out of musical chairs in February and has to settle for a pillow deal.

I don't follow the Blue Jays enough to have any idea what is wrong with him. He used to be quite good. Better than that even. There was a day I would have rather had him than Vlad. He's still pretty young. Same age as our promising prospect Luken Baker. We're all ready to run Alec Burleson out of town on a rail because he hasn't been good since last August. Bo hasn't been himself for longer than that. Are we sure he is getting big money? The best version of him would be worth it, the last two seasons- not so much.
