Somebody hasn’t been paying attention.
Re: DeWitts need to make the move now with Mo/Bloom
Had they dumped Mo in the offseason at least it would have showed fans that they are holding him accountable for the decline. By not doing so it has several fans including me not as interested in following them. My following has declined as they have shown no interest in listening to fans on what they want.Galatians221jb1 wrote: ↑24 Apr 2025 10:39 am Mo has accomplished nothing in reshaping this roster. When a change is imminent, and more importantly, necessary, there is no time better than today.

You go, Cranny. Where is your optimism? You know, like right after the end of the opening series of the season. Man, you wanted to rub some noses in it. Now, you are just a popcorn fart of a fan. All you can do is take shots at people from your cheap seats. And it’s still April. LOL.
Re: DeWitts need to make the move now with Mo/Bloom
Mo should have stepped down after last season and let Bloom begin to shape the team the way he sees fit. Instead Mo phoned in the offseason (again) and will cruise through the regular season (again). Dewitt allowing Mo to basically punt an entire offseason and season away is irresponsible.

Re: DeWitts need to make the move now with Mo/Bloom
Nothing is changing until October. Mo is not getting fired. Oli is not getting fired. Any potential trade this season is limited to Arenado, Helsley, Fedde, and Maton. The others are getting a full year look or have NTCs.
Mo will sit around playing with himself as usual during the deadline. If he does find the motivation to make a trade, it will be from the aforementioned group and the return will be a lower minor leaguer, or a so-so reliever.
Do not expect radical changes once Bloom takes over. BDW is not opening the wallet just because Mo is gone. The vision is to save $ and build from within the organization. This is a multi-year process.

Re: DeWitts need to make the move now with Mo/Bloom
I felt it was time for a FO change.
MO announced he was gone after 2025 season.
Bloom announced as successor and he is already there.
Look I get the angst over reshaping the team!
And even though MO is still “technically” there does anyone really think that he is going to override Bloom who is already there???
And as for canning MO now??
Whatever? If that happens would you expect a flurry of moves to occur?
Doubtful any major trades happen anywhere until the deadline.
Actually....if this allows Bloom to better focus on the farm system, upcoming draft, etc. it might turn out to be a benefit?

This is a season to give long runs(60 games or more) to see what they have/don't have with the suspects/prospects.Galatians221jb1 wrote: ↑24 Apr 2025 10:39 am Mo has accomplished nothing in reshaping this roster. Let Bloom take over. It would at least give the appearance of caring.

Yes, Rojo, when someone says this season is an unmitigated disaster (and toast) when it’s only April, that deserves a chuckle.Rojo Johnson wrote: ↑24 Apr 2025 18:28 pmYou go, Cranny. Yeah, I think this.Ronnie Dobbs wrote: ↑24 Apr 2025 10:57 am Won't happen. It's a rebuild year, whether they admit it or not.
It also allows Bloom to have a full year to build the farm system to his vision and he won't have the stain of this year's major league performance (if it continues to go this way) on his record. He can start this offseason in a positive note and carry that into next season.
The ownership does not want to send Mozeliak off by firing him before the end of the season. Nor do they want Bloom's tenure to start with what is, hopefully, the low ebb rebuilding season of 2025.
Turning this organization around is going to take time and patience.

Well, maybe since the Cardinals rank #5 right now in MLB in team OPS, it won’t take too much time.mattmitchl44 wrote: ↑25 Apr 2025 08:05 amYeah, I think this.Ronnie Dobbs wrote: ↑24 Apr 2025 10:57 am Won't happen. It's a rebuild year, whether they admit it or not.

Pitching wins games. Remember when the Cardinals developed good young pitching?Cranny wrote: ↑25 Apr 2025 08:13 amWell, maybe since the Cardinals rank #5 right now in MLB in team OPS, it won’t take too much time.mattmitchl44 wrote: ↑25 Apr 2025 08:05 amYeah, I think this.Ronnie Dobbs wrote: ↑24 Apr 2025 10:57 am Won't happen. Cranny on the Titanic:
"It's only just a small crack in the hull. The crew can get it patched in a jiffy. It's early on in our cruise to New York. Just be patient, and all will be OK. Have faith in Captain Mozeliak, as he has much experience in navigating icebergs, especially learned 15 years ago."

Absolutely, Red. And when needed, you’ll remember they traded pitching to fill holes offensively. But since the offense is doing pretty well now, maybe we’ll see a rotation of Pallante-Liberatore-Mathews-McGreevy-Roby in the not too distant future.OldRed wrote: ↑25 Apr 2025 08:15 amPitching wins games. Re: DeWitts need to make the move now with Mo/Bloom
We'll see. Right now the Cardinals are 9th in wRC+, but I don't expect Herrera to continue at 299, Saggese at 172, Donovan at 158, or Pozo at 148. They will regress to the mean somewhat, while others (Walker, Winn, Burleson, etc.) may hope to regress in a positive direction. I wouldn't read much into "team totals" right now.Cranny wrote: ↑25 Apr 2025 08:13 amWell, maybe since the Cardinals rank #5 right now in MLB in team OPS, it won’t take too much time.mattmitchl44 wrote: ↑25 Apr 2025 08:05 amYeah, I think this.Ronnie Dobbs wrote: ↑24 Apr 2025 10:57 am Won't happen. Re: DeWitts need to make the move now with Mo/Bloom
My patience is now conditional. I am willing to be patient- WITH PROGRESS. Cardinals fans, by and large, have been patient for years without progress. Our patience has been abused. At some point you have to admit, "I have been foolish". Going forward, patience is only offered along with progress.mattmitchl44 wrote: ↑25 Apr 2025 08:05 amYeah, I think this.Ronnie Dobbs wrote: ↑24 Apr 2025 10:57 am Won't happen.
