Now that was funny.Absolut wrote: ↑24 Apr 2025 10:39 amThey got mugged!Lloyd Braun wrote: ↑24 Apr 2025 09:10 am My good friends (husband & wife) did not renew their season tickets for 2025. They had 4 seats total.
Last year, they were on the fence, due the downward spiral of the Cardinals play and the fact that they had no idea who would even be on the roster this year. Ultimately, they had decided they'd likely renew. They live only 10 mins from the stadium and they enjoy the activity.
Then they received their end-of-year, season ticket holder appreciation gift - as was customary.
They got one mug - for 4 seats. One mug to be shared between 4 people.
In previous years, they got a gift for each ticket holder. In 2024, the Cardinals only gave 1 gift per group of seats.
My friends called to ask where the other three gift items were. The Cardinals said they were only giving out one gift per group going forward.
That was the last straw. The Cardinals proved right then and there... they are cheap, penny-pinching, unappreciative, cold-hearted owners, that care nothing about the blue-collar fans that keep their business afloat.
It probably cost $0.99 to make and ship those mugs. But the Cardinals are so cheap, short-sited, and so bad at business these days, that they were willing to lose thousands of dollars per group from ticket sales, all to save a couple of bucks on cheap mug giveaways.
That tells you everything one needs to know about the priority of the owners and how little they give care at all today. We have to pray they sell, otherwise, this is just the new norm. And it will likely get worse and worse.
A mug shot. That’s what they got.

There's an old saying among salespeople, "People might not remember exactly what you said or did, but they will remember exactly how you made them FEEL.
Just ask that couple who USED to own four season tickets, and now has one mug.....which was probably left over from a mug giveaway night.

Do they think that a vast majority of season tickets are held by businesses that will just keep buying them regardless ?....
But I guess teams with low sales prove that working theory wrong...

It's not complicated. For years the Cardinals remained in contention by trading prospects for overpaid veterans. That masked the fact player development in the organization was a complete mess.Kentucky kid wrote: ↑24 Apr 2025 07:13 am so much is screwed up about cardinal baseball.Thank you Bernie for telling like it is!!!
Most recent overpaid veteran is Contreras who was signed as a replacement for Molina but can't catch. The Cardinals had a dozen years to develop one high level MLB level catcher and failed to do so. Then there's the pitching. Perhaps Bloom can fix it but with revenue down the Cardinals now have to rely on their own system. Brand new territory.

Herrera, Winn, Donovan, Sagesse, Gorman, Nootbaar, Scott, Walker, Burleson, McGreevy, etc. What a mess the minors have been.ScotchMIrish wrote: ↑24 Apr 2025 13:15 pmIt's not complicated. Then why the big press conference? Why the “reset”? Why the new FO? Why the wholesale personnel changes in the minor league system? Why the big expenditure on “new sophisticated tracking equipment” that you now love so much 5+ years after the technology was actually “new.”Cranny wrote: ↑24 Apr 2025 13:34 pmHerrera, Winn, Donovan, Sagesse, Gorman, Nootbaar, Scott, Walker, Burleson, McGreevy, etc. What a mess the minors have been.ScotchMIrish wrote: ↑24 Apr 2025 13:15 pmIt's not complicated. You have the same cognitive dissonance as BDWJr had at the press conference: we’re here to announce “significant changes” to our minor league player development system that has “fallen behind” the industry, and we’ve concluded our current model is “unsustainable.” But, we think we’ve done a good job with producing players, we are excited about the young players we have recently graduated to the MLB level, and we’re bullish on our pipeline!

We don’t know how many studs are on that list, SB. No one can predict the future. Look at Adolis Garcia. What about Wetherholt, Crooks, Bernal, and Davis? No predictions. Predictions are only opinions.sikeston bulldog2 wrote: ↑24 Apr 2025 13:39 pm. why not say you’re pleased with your group. Leave it at that. to be fair, Bernie defended it and Mo'ron terrible dealings. And Bernie floated a rumor out that Pirates were interested in Mo'ron as POBO, and bdw2, gave him an extension and promotion. So when Bernie is at ya, especially when he shilled for you to get a promotion, ur really doing a terrible job.Kentucky kid wrote: ↑24 Apr 2025 07:13 am so much is screwed up about cardinal baseball.Thank you Bernie for telling like it is!!!
Mo'ron would come on bernies show after every win, bad loss, etc. He felt he owed him, and would defend him because of it, and floated that [nonsense] rumor.

What was Herrera's caught stealing % last year relative to the rest of MLB?Cranny wrote: ↑24 Apr 2025 13:34 pmHerrera, Winn, Donovan, Sagesse, Gorman, Nootbaar, Scott, Walker, Burleson, McGreevy, etc. What a mess the minors have been.ScotchMIrish wrote: ↑24 Apr 2025 13:15 pmIt's not complicated. They currently have one pitcher in the rotation who was drafted by the Cardinals. A familiar theme over the last few seasons.
