And replace him with who?

The easiest thing to do is complain about a manager. Most complainers by nature lack deep thinking skills. So they complain about the easiest target. Marmol is no great manager and it wouldn’t bother me if he were replaced but the hate he gets daily on this forum from primarily the same dozen or so complainers is laughable.

LOL.
Cranny, you lack credibility. Front office fanny kisser. Not funny, he would not be manager of any other organization. He is an incompetent Elmer Fudd.
We heard the same thing about Schildt. You guys gripe about every manager. The manager does not throw the pitches nor does he swing the bat.
Can’t speak for anybody else, but I didn’t talk badly about Shildt (and BTW, there is no “c” in Shildt).

I speak badly about Marmol often — because he is utterly incompetent.

I don't think that's true. There may have been a few naysayers about Schilt & he made some mistakes, but he MANAGED the team & he rarely made the same mistake twice. He has a much better team in SD, & he is managing it very well. The manager doesn't make hits, but they do put people in the best position to get the needed hits. LaRussa was really good at that & Schildt seems to be coming right along. Oli often doesn't even know that he's made a mistake or if he does, he never acknowledges it, plus, he knows that he doesn't deserve the job & so manages out of fear. That is rarely going to be successful.

However, something needs to be done to shake this team up. It's time to fire Oli. It has been a long time coming.
Who says every single thing is blamed on Oli? He's a terrible manager and has been for years. He costs the team wins. Fire him.

In these kind of arguments people say irrelevant things, mostly because they have no argument. For example, this has nothing to do with Schildt, or that every manager has his detractors. Marmol is a terrible manager and needs to go.

oli is the proverbial dead man walking. short of he and moe walking out together hand in hand during the season, olis toast in oct. bloom will want his own guy, and if oli is somehow kept for 2026, season ticket sales and walk up buyers will be non existent.

Agreed. A number of us have been consistently calling for his dismissal for several years. He is simply not a competent MLB manager and costs the team games with poor lineup construction and very poor in game tactics. He has shown no feel for a game. Yes, he has a decent game now and then, but he makes a lot of very questionable moves. Shildt had a 17 game streak and made the playoffs and was then fired to be replaced by Marmol. That was, and continues to be ridiculous. Marmol never seems to learn from his mistakes, and rarely even admits them.

Because I watch on MLB Extra Innings Package I rarely see Oli’s postgame comments.
For my sanity that is probably fortunate?
Last night they did.
Got exactly what I expected.
The panel guys basically played it off as a “young team making mistakes while trying to grow”.
Oli of course praised their “effort”.
None of them questioned Oli’s judgement per usual.

Exactly, why was Maton allowed to pitch to Olson with 3 lefty’s in pen. That was the game. You shut that down still up by one and Helsley comes in the 9th……this isn’t complicated stuff

i think it was whitey that said a really good/great manager will win you 2-3 games a season but a bad manager can lose dozens!
not an exact quote but covers the gist of it.

How much deep thinking did it take to understand that Maton pitching to Olson wasn’t a good idea??

Been saying it since the Phillie playoff series, worst Manager in Cardinals history.

Should've been fired long ago.

Look we both know that hindsight is 20/20 so we’re always going to be able to analyze after the fact.
Having said that most of us agree that Oli’s track record on in-game judgement calls sucks!
I’d throw out a number of him being wrong 80% of the time or more.
He’s not the MAIN reason this team is losing but he clearly isn’t the answer at manager.
