Can’t speak for anybody else, but I didn’t talk badly about Shildt (and BTW, there is no “c” in Shildt).Bob Kunush wrote: ↑21 Apr 2025 21:45 pmWe heard the same thing about Schildt. You guys gripe about every manager. The manager does not throw the pitches nor does he swing the bat.MIDMOBIRDTWO wrote: ↑21 Apr 2025 20:49 pmCranny, you lack credibility. Front office fanny kisser. Not funny, he would not be manager of any other organization. He is an incompetent Elmer Fudd.
I don't think that's true. There may have been a few naysayers about Schilt & he made some mistakes, but he MANAGED the team & he rarely made the same mistake twice. He has a much better team in SD, & he is managing it very well. The manager doesn't make hits, but they do put people in the best position to get the needed hits. LaRussa was really good at that & Schildt seems to be coming right along. Oli often doesn't even know that he's made a mistake or if he does, he never acknowledges it, plus, he knows that he doesn't deserve the job & so manages out of fear. That is rarely going to be successful.Bob Kunush wrote: ↑21 Apr 2025 21:45 pmWe heard the same thing about Schildt. You guys gripe about every manager. Who says every single thing is blamed on Oli? He's a terrible manager and has been for years. He costs the team wins. Fire him.cardinalsfever44 wrote: ↑21 Apr 2025 20:47 pm I'm not on the bandwagon that blames every single thing on Oli, which I find silly.
However, something needs to be done to shake this team up. It's time to fire Oli. It has been a long time coming.
In these kind of arguments people say irrelevant things, mostly because they have no argument. For example, this has nothing to do with Schildt, or that every manager has his detractors. Marmol is a terrible manager and needs to go.Hazelwood72 wrote: ↑21 Apr 2025 21:52 pmCan’t speak for anybody else, but I didn’t talk badly about Shildt (and BTW, there is no “c” in Shildt).Bob Kunush wrote: ↑21 Apr 2025 21:45 pmWe heard the same thing about Schildt. I speak badly about Marmol often — because he is utterly incompetent.
Agreed. A number of us have been consistently calling for his dismissal for several years. He is simply not a competent MLB manager and costs the team games with poor lineup construction and very poor in game tactics. He has shown no feel for a game. Yes, he has a decent game now and then, but he makes a lot of very questionable moves. Shildt had a 17 game streak and made the playoffs and was then fired to be replaced by Marmol. That was, and continues to be ridiculous. Marmol never seems to learn from his mistakes, and rarely even admits them.BrummerStealsHome wrote: ↑21 Apr 2025 22:57 pmWho says every single thing is blamed on Oli? +1...Hopefully they stay on topic.BrummerStealsHome wrote: ↑21 Apr 2025 22:59 pmIn these kind of arguments people say irrelevant things, mostly because they have no argument. Exactly, why was Maton allowed to pitch to Olson with 3 lefty’s in pen. That was the game. You shut that down still up by one and Helsley comes in the 9th……this isn’t complicated stuffCusecards wrote: ↑22 Apr 2025 07:38 am Because I watch on MLB Extra Innings Package I rarely see Oli’s postgame comments.
For my sanity that is probably fortunate?
Last night they did.
Got exactly what I expected.
The panel guys basically played it off as a “young team making mistakes while trying to grow”.
Oli of course praised their “effort”.
None of them questioned Oli’s judgement per usual.
How much deep thinking did it take to understand that Maton pitching to Olson wasn’t a good idea??Bob Kunush wrote: ↑21 Apr 2025 21:48 pm The easiest thing to do is complain about a manager. Most complainers by nature lack deep thinking skills. So they complain about the easiest target. Marmol is no great manager and it wouldn’t bother me if he were replaced but the hate he gets daily on this forum from primarily the same dozen or so complainers is laughable.
Look we both know that hindsight is 20/20 so we’re always going to be able to analyze after the fact.Goldfan wrote: ↑22 Apr 2025 07:43 amExactly, why was Maton allowed to pitch to Olson with 3 lefty’s in pen.
