Ownership of course.
BPV became the focus several years ago instead of the product on the field. That with the security blanket of being in a weak division created complacency and a lack of a killer instinct that was here when LaRussa was here.
People want to use big money spending as some excuse.
There has been plenty of money and resources to compete but the stomach and leadership is what has been absent.
This has been coming for years and here we are.

I have to agree that it's the Big DeWitt and little Mo show's fault. retooling my eye. They're just using that line as an excuse to reap in $$$$.

What's interesting is the minor league system seems to be significantly underperforming for many years and the MLB coaching staff largely consists of the people who were supposed to be developing players in the minors.

I've been screaming BILL DEWITT, JR is the real problem now for going on four years!
Dewitt is the one who kept Mo on well past his expiration date
Dewitt is the one who passed on T. Francona when TLR retired
Dewitt is the one who okayed hiring three clowns as Managers
Dewitt is the one who has okayed and signed the checks for Mo's idiotic FA signings and extensions
The problem is BDWJR
He could've put an end to Mo's reign of ineptitude long ago and didn't, content to let him do his thing as long as he drew 3+M.
Well the Rolls Royce has been driven over the cliff.
Unless C. Bloom can find the next Whitey or TLR to turn this sinking ship around, your $2.5B asset is going to start shrinking.

For a game, or a season blame the players or the manager. For a season blame the front office. For a 10year slide blame ownership. Ownership sets the tone. They set the standards for success or failure at every level of the org. They set the financial parameters. They are responsible for recognizing when things aren’t working and the management team they have in place. Ownership is responsible for where the Cardinals are.

In some people’s opinion. I don’t care for the loud music, the kiss cam, the game show stuff, the ball under the 3 hats, etc. I relish the days when it was just baseball. Plus they have loaded up the scoreboard with too much stuff.

LIVING off past success is over cranny, that slight of hands isn't working any more and the fan base has spoken by staying away from Busch Stadium.
2018 - 2022 they rode Waino and Yadi (even Albert on his return).
Once they were all gone, the team collapsed.
Mo and Oli should've both been fired after 2023.
Dewitt is the problem and you know it, he could've stepped in long before this collapse and fired Mo & Oli.
He failed to act, he's now paying the price.
Enjoy those 15,000-20,000 crowds if he keep sleeping on the job.
