Re: Winnepeg - Blues Prediction Thread
Unfortunately I think the Jets win in 5 or 6. I hope i am wrong but all the stats lean the way of the Jets.
5 on 5 scoring
PP and PK are drastically in favor of Jets
Overall Dfense is in favor of Jets
HELLY is going to win the Vezina almost for sure.
With that said if we play how we have since 4 nations that would level things out. It will help if we stay out of the box. And hopefully we can get inside Hellys head.

Re: Winnepeg - Blues Prediction Thread
Jets were heavily favored for the Finals in 2019.
Blues have to win 1 of the 2 in and come home.
Amen to Dallas and Colorado eliminating each other in the first round…

Dallas 0-5-2 in last 7. Yikes.
Not trying to speak out of both ends of my mouth but I'm thinking the Blues recent 3 game losing streak ending with that big game against Utah might actually help them going into this series.
Nothing wrong with a taste of reality to get their focus back.

Re: Winnepeg - Blues Prediction Thread
It would be hard realistically to put money down on the Blues in this one. Jets took three of four this year vs Blues although STL did go up there on 12/3 and win a helluva game.
Binnington and the D, forechecking, backchecking, timely goals, PP, PK will all have to be nearly perfect for the Blues to pull it off. IF somehow Holloway gets back soon and at full force that could swing some things toward the Blues but i dont see that either
This year im going to say Jets in 6. Let this young group of Blues studs get some seasoning this is what re growing the franchise is all about. The Blues will be back strong next season.

that's nice. what's your actual pick/prediction for the winner of the series? go on record for once.theograce wrote: ↑16 Apr 2025 21:11 pmHow many times was Winnipeg favored to win their series? Can’t be a lot.bud white wrote: ↑16 Apr 2025 20:53 pm I heard some very interesting stats that actually align with the 2019 playoffs.
Hellebyuck has a better winning percentage in Games 1-4, but falls off dramatically in games 5-7
Binnington is the polar opposite. In games 5-7 I believe he's only lost 2 or 3 games in his postseason career.
If Winnipeg wins this, they have to beat him early. If the Blues are to win this, they have to make it a long series. I believe Marty Biron shared the stats on a TSN feature.
It’s like Price and Luongo … hard to win when the your team is inferior.
This year is different though with expectations being higher

There is no denying that some GMs can find exceptional talent after pick 10. However, it is rare.Harry S Deals wrote: ↑17 Apr 2025 08:27 am Winnipeg doesnt have a top 5 pick how can they beat anyone or win a Cup????

What is known, however, is that Doug Armstrong is NOT one of those GMs. Even if we got a TOP 5, Army may screw it up. The best young players on the Blues at the moment is Broberg and Holloway, and Army did not draft them.
Anybody hear anything about Adam Jiricek lately? What ailment is he recovering from this time?
Re: Winnepeg - Blues Prediction Thread
Thomas, Kyrou, and Parayko all drafted by Armstrong after the top 10 says differently. Hell all of them were drafted 20 or later.a smell of green grass wrote: ↑17 Apr 2025 10:11 amThere is no denying that some GMs can find exceptional talent after pick 10. I'd give the Blues a 30% chance to win if Holloway was healthy. I think it's a pretty long shot now. Binngington is going to have to post some monster games for them to win this, probably at least 2 shutouts.

Henrik Zetterburg was drafted 121st overall ... Pavol Datsyuk 171st overall.a smell of green grass wrote: ↑17 Apr 2025 10:11 amThere is no denying that some GMs can find exceptional talent after pick 10. Re: Winnepeg - Blues Prediction Thread
I think the Blues will win two. The rest of the games are going to be close.
Winnipeg may have some demons, but 2019 is 6 years ago. I think they have matured.
It will be a fun series and then we'll have to deal with the negative nancys on how this season was a failure. But it wasn't. We already learned so much about this team and the future is very bright.

Making the playoffs after all the bull[shirt] they have been spreading around should've been enough to shut them up. Winning this series would be like a kick in the groin to them, extremely painful.somni wrote: ↑17 Apr 2025 10:40 am I think the Blues will win two. The rest of the games are going to be close.

Blues in six.
Re: Winnepeg - Blues Prediction Thread
This stuff is always "most favored team in 6". Just go look at HFboards literally every single year.
The polls always have the higher seed in 6 with the most votes. It's silly.
That said, it is almost always not the higher seeded team in 6.
Blues in 4.
