Congrats to Herrera. Once again, Mozeliak doesn't know the farm system talent, so he puts $90 million towards a catcher with Herrera in the pipeline. The Contreras money could have gone to a 1st baseman that hits and fields.
he trades Zac Gallen and Sandy Alcantara
tonight vs the mighty Yankees, Gallen pitched a 3-hit shutout over 6 2/3, striking out 13

He hits the ball very hard. Kills left handers, he needs to play every day.
To play every day, Burly needs to be traded or relegated to bench duty. Same with Gorman. Burly really needs to go. His ceiling is not high, and he may have reached it.
+1 burly even last season had just over an .800 OPS against right handers it’s not like hes a big masher agsinst them. Herrera can play against righthanders and left handers. No platoon necessary
And to be clear, I wasn't including Gorman in the "should be traded" notion. I was trying to say he needs max PAs just like Herrera. Gotta find out whether he can reach his ceiling. So Donovan may have to lose PAs. So be it. He's nothing special, and his ceiling is not that high. He can return to utility duty or also be traded.
If Arenado is staying, there is no room for all these guys. And this year was to be the year "we find out" about Gorman, Walker, Scott, Herrera. Let's find out and let the chips fall where they may or may have to

Injuries will take care of playing time. All these guys can stay. It’s ok to have players on the bench who can actually play.

I started to list the talent traded away, but the dead horse had too many flies on it.

You could put Baker at DH vs LHP still and either sit Gorman or put Gorman at 2B.
You nailed it!
I see the potential for an above average run producer at 7 of the 9 positions, with the 2 being Winn/Scott who bring great defensive upside at premium positions to the table. And even then if Scott keeps playing the way he's looked this year, he may very well be an above average run producer for CF.

And you’d be piszing on a positive, upbeat thread. So there’s that.

Most of the starting lineup was drafted by Mo.
All you talk about is Moe, it’s very weird. You are a very strange person.

What IF Herrera, Walker, Scott and Gorman all broke out this year? Then JJ came up and raked? Then Crooks came up and shined?
Libs and Mikolas were around .500 type SP's, while Gray, Pallante, Matz and Fedde all pitched well? Mathews and McGreevy progressed well?
Noot was an All-Star? Arenado had a rebound year? Helsley pretty much replicated last year? Winn and Contreras started producing like last year and stayed healthy?
Well, come on, it's spring, surely some optimism can be tolerated.
That is a lot of what if's....but I hope it happens.

And this is the point of all our bellyaching…..they were touting this great upcoming C talent for Yadis replacement…..he retires and they spend 18mil/yr where that money could’ve gone for SP or a legit OF bat. The complete idiocy and lack of ANY baseball feel or intuition has put this org in the very spot it is today. And I guess BDW was right there with him…..do not sure what his dysfunction is. Cranny cries about not being able to compete with big boys….this isn’t the issue. It was wasting the $$ and young talent into the Muddy Mississippi
he needs to be a 1st baseman/DH. his catching is awful. can't throw and is even worse, if you can believe it, at 'framing'.. who thinks moving their glove 1-2 ft is gonna get a call?
