herrera seems to call a game and do fine in that regard..his throwing is an issue but pages aint johnny bench behind the plate and herrera is a big time threat at bat

You'd swear that Pages is the 2nd coming of Molina with his complete mastery of catching, according to some on CT.

Give me the guy who is capable of hitting 3 HRs in a game and who just guided the team's ace through 6 nearly flawless innings.

Can't hit him 5th if you are going to remove him for defense every game, though

Switch him to DH from C if you're going to do that.

Can you double switch a C to a DH mid-game? I know you couldn't double switch a DH back in the day, but not sure if it changed?

I was purposing all off season that Herrera see some time in the outfield this spring, but the Cardinals just can’t look ahead. I don’t think they’ve ever thought that highly of him as a hitter, or Baker, or Koperniak. For some reason they get real high on some guys and others they just don’t. Confusing!

pages is a perfectly capable back up and perhaps marginally better defensively but herrera can really hit which is rare for a catcher....let him play

No catcher plays every day, but Pages once a week should be the norm. Not more. He's not a defensive wizard, and he's never going to come close to Herrera at the plate.

And he should DH when not catching. Its not like Burly is an MVP candidate with the bat

This won’t happen but I’d much rather see Herrera get full time DH and acquire a defensive specialist for full time duties at Catcher with Pages getting a start every now and then. Trade Burly

I love Ivan’s bat and do genuinely believe he will be our best hitter at the end of the season. But that noodle arm will burn us more often than not. And I don’t think he’s shown the potential of it ever being respectable. Jmo.
