Have scored 5 or more in 5 of 6 games and 10 or more hits in all 6 games and people are unhappy with the lineup construction.

What brings you to the conclusion that this 3rd-year player need the pressure kept off? And maybe WillyC is feeling pressure in the 2 spot. Moving him down in the order may help him snap out of his funk soon.woofy25 wrote: ↑02 Apr 2025 15:41 pmOr maybe let them play a little bit and trust Contreras, who is the best hitter on the team, will figure it out. All while letting Walker stay where he is to keep the pressure off?DRoss wrote: ↑02 Apr 2025 14:07 pmThis is nothing new for Walker as he's had success his first two season hitting at the bottom half of the order. Meanwhile, WillyC has been awful so far.HorseTrader wrote: ↑02 Apr 2025 13:22 pm The Walker part ain't broke so don't fix it. Willie should come around.
Look Walker is having some success as the #7 in a sss. Let him stay there for now before moving him up.
It should be about constructing lineups conducive for winning, not players feelings.
Idk, they’re averaging 7 runs/gm right. That’ll do, no?
5 would be a good spot for Contreras, right nowDRoss wrote: ↑03 Apr 2025 20:54 pmWhat brings you to the conclusion that this 3rd-year player need the pressure kept off? Your goalpost moving questions about averaging 7 runs is a deflection, no?
Really? A question about whether Contreras is feeling pressure to produce? Has he not proven that he can handle it? Walker is hitting, and they’re scoring runs. Why mess with the batting order? If you want to swap Contreras and Donovan then sure, but can we just let Jordan Walker be for 5 freaking minutes?DRoss wrote: ↑03 Apr 2025 20:54 pmWhat brings you to the conclusion that this 3rd-year player need the pressure kept off? He has been striking out too much for the 5th spot imo. The Cards have been putting runners on base. Ideally you want the 5-hole able to put the ball in play to at least move runners along.
It's 2025. Not 2024. Not 2023. With so many strikeouts this year, it is entirely possible WillyC is experiencing some pressure. So no, WillyC hasn't proven yet he can handle batting second.woofy25 wrote: ↑03 Apr 2025 21:22 pm

I didn’t move the goalposts. Rather, I was responding to your comment about constructing lineups conducive to winning. To that I said they’re scoring 7 runs/gm. I’d say that shows the lineup has been constructed in a way that’s conducive to winning, thus far. Nice try on the goalpost thing though.
Yea the cardinals have screwed him multiple times. But no he did not hit last year he ended with a .201 avg with the cardinals and like a .760 ops in Memphis. Again, the lineup is producing as is. Walker is freaking 22. Let him have success for a minute. Then, move him to the middle of the lineup later. Doesn’t have to be the third game in April for any reason.DRoss wrote: ↑03 Apr 2025 22:26 pmIt's 2025. Not 2024. Not 2023. Walker hitting this year is not a new phenomenon. He has hit every year he has been on the team. It's not his fault some genius decided to send him down his first year to work on launch angle nonsense. After being sent down because of a slow start last year (again the team screwing with his hitting approach) he came back late summer and was productive to end the season. 2025 he has come out of the gate hitting again. Yet some of y'all must think he is mentally Jello if he bats higher in the lineup.
I don't get it.
