I know a lot of discussion pros and cons about whether Donnie goes home on Walker fly ball.
My bigger issue is with Pops ‘no call’ on that play .
Watching replays of Donnie returning to tag up and be ready to go home, Donnie glanced over to his coach for the call
Go or no go !
Replays I watched showed Pops saying nothing to Donnie
Just staring toward Trout . Right or wrong call the 3rd base coach needs to make the call, That’s part of his job.
If he sends Donnie and he is thriwn out by 6 feet that is not on the player. Coach tells me to GO. I run like hell.
Tonight Pops failed IMO by saying nothing.
Your thoughts ?
Pops is bad.
Recall he had some horrific sends last season and the team decided to blame the player on one and said nothing of the one the next night.
It would have been a horrific send last night maybe hes learning

Pops was horrible in Memphis way back when he was their manager. I wonder what he's got on the owners.

Not sending him was the safe choice. Sending him would've been the aggressive play. This team needs to be aggressive. If he's out, you go to the next inning. If he's safe, you win.
If it is accurate that Pop said nothing, that's a real problem. The runner needs help in that situation.
Correction: There was the appropriate choice and the reckless choice. Trout has always had a cannon, and the ball was hit about 180ft from home plate. It was nothing more than a popup. Victor Scott would have been thrown out from there.

Not on the throw he made. Tie game, force the issue.

If he was out by 15ft you’d be taking the opposite position. Just a hunch

If he was out by 15 feet, I'd ask if he was walking or fell down. If he was out, so be it. Rather see that than leaving him stranded.
