Think the only reason Oli batted him is the previous at bat with runners on he scorched that hot shot that thr 3rd baseman snared.
So he batted him again. Had Winn struck out the previous at bat I think Oli doesn’t go with him.
I agree with others take a shot with Gorman there.
Watching Winn I have seen this pattern.
And I think opponents are on to this.
Winn us taking almost every first pitch. teams are throwing off speed pitches they can get a strike.
Then bring 0-1 , they know he is pressing and throw outside the zone in him. He is chafing those. So now 0-2. They throw anywhere off the plate..
That 3rd to last at bat was typical.. strikes out on on 4 pitches with only first pitch in strike zone .
Until he stood chasing and takes thise balls for walks, he won’t do much.
Winn not following Brownie’s strategy .. Walker, Scott ,and others are

Games used to be managed with a "what is the best way to win this game?" attitude. Now, they just let the chips fall wherever. Afraid to hurt feelings I guess.
Brad made the comment that Oli was playing for later in the season…..showing confidence in Winn
A win is a win…..you take it every chance you get….may not matter later in season
LH batter who was 3-4 yesterday sitting on bench while 0 for season looks absolutely clueless a the plate. In what world is this a hard decision?
Thompson's comment was idiocy.
He could not possibly believe what he said.
He was doing what he does best.
A shill for the team "leadership".

By letting Winn hit Oli trying to build his confidence. Well guess what, he knows he let the team down, and the other 25 players know he let the team down. What do you think that did for his confidence? He’s going to be pressing even more tomorrow.

Brown seems to have helped others.
He needs to help Winn.

Wouldn’t they just bring in a lefty?
I’m sure he’s batted against lefties before (but hitting them is another matter).
Gorman should face nothing but lefties during bp

Was at the game, just knew Gorman was going to be put up there and kept watching for him to pop out of the dugout.
Everyone around us couldn't believe he let the hitless Winn bat there.
Proving once again Oli is more interested in being pals w/the young players than he is being a Manager.

And Siani being a garden gnome at first base makes no sense
What is his role exactly? He has to get in scoring position, steal a bag dude, they never threw over to first
Head scratcher for certain
I couldn't believe Siani was attempting to steal second. I thought they would be more aggressive .

Oli has never been able to shake his Minor League mentality where his job was to nurture young players and build their confidence by letting them experience situations like w/Winn last night instead of being a Major League Manager who's job is to WIN games not coddle young players or worry about hurting their feelings.

The Marmot can;t manage...the first three games a chimp could have made those decisions, but the first game the Cards needed a competent manager we see what we got.
