I like/prefer Donovan at 2B.
With Arenado here, have Gorman as the primary DH imo.
Why? He has a higher slug ceiling than Burleson. Strive for damage out of the DH. That simple.
With Donovan at second their infield defense is solid. And while it's just one game I hope Mo sticks to his statement about getting Gorman 600 PAs. Unless if he completely craters. They need to give Gorman every opportunity to see if he can get back to '23 form. Let Burleson PH against RHP and get an occasional start at 1B. He is a guy.

Gorman didn't earn it but also if they're not gonna prioritize getting him everyday ABs over Burleson, after talking all winter about how vital it was to give him and Walker "runway"... then they need to just trade him now for whatever they can get. It's just basic asset management.
I wouldn’t mind seeing them trade him. This team is worse with him in the lineup.
I wouldn't mind either as long as they do it intentionally (like soon) rather than just hold onto him for the next two years until he's lost so much value they can only get a bag of balls (i.e. like they did with Carlson, O'Neill, etc.).
My preference is still that they just throw him out there every day to give him one last true shot at figuring it out. They should not be prioritizing competing over that given their complete punting of this offseason.

I don’t care if it’s at AAA or the big leagues he should play every day. If he isn’t going to play every day send him down and replace him with Fermin. We could use the RHB off the bench and someone to back up 2B SS 3B. When Gorman has an 800 ops in AAA for several straight months then he can come up.

Exactly! If Nolan were in his late 20's I'd have less patience with him, but the kid is still only 24 years old!
MANY great MLB hitters hadn't even touched the bigs by this time in their development and people are ready to write him off like he's a lost cause. Nolan was exceptional at age 22 and is easily our biggest power threat.
Don't want to trade him at all but especially not when his value's never been lower.

If they plan on keeping him send him to AAA let him improve there get his OPS up etc... He is not going to make this team better in 2025. Bring up Prieto or Barerro whoever to fill the backup spot.

Not trying to be petty but what did he mean when he cupped his ear during call back? I don’t think he was trying to be humorous? Was he saying applaud me because I deserve it? Was he taking a shot at those wanted him traded (I’m one of those)? It was just weird to me.

I tend to agree with this. Burly can get plenty of ABs when Contreras, Noot, Walker, Donnie, Scott, Nado, and Gorman get days off. But, I think I'd plug Gorman in everyday against RHP at DH and see what he is.

Oli does seem to have a soft spot for The Bison.
I'd rather see Gorman get the majority of those PA's thought given he's the hitter between the two w/the most upside.

The main issue is that they don't really have a firm plan, they just revert to the same habits they've done with a lot of young guys w/talent, which is to bury him until he loses all confidence/value.
The other issue is that they're still half-trying to compete even after spending months talking about how this is a "reset" year for them to see what they have in guys like Walker and Gorman. Competing and resetting are mutually exclusive, but in true Cardinals fashion they're going to half-donkey both, which will obviously result in accomplishing neither.
To be clear, I think this should definitely be a "reset" year as they indicated it would be, especially since they did literally nothing to make any improvements over the offseason and cut like $30M in payroll.

Gorman will get his looks.
Lots of combinations.
If they are stressing contact and better situational hitting Gorman would be wise to finally start learning the strike zone.
And NOT trying to pull everything!

Maybe so but I’ve never seen a player do that.

Fair enough - cannot believe Gorman is MLB player quality. Not just a scrub but full time productive player.

Here's what he meant...
“[T]he way they cheered for me, it meant a lot to me, and it got me motivated, and I was just fortunate to give them something to cheer about again,” Arenado said.

I don't see it that way at all. They have a few LHH young players, with no true position to play but can vacillate between a few, who have been on an ocean ride of performance. Ups and downs with the waves. Some waves higher and some much lower and longer. One flash in the pan year of performance is exactly that...
None have shown consistency (Bumbles or UniKKKorn). Each will get their run to prove something but the Cards have to see what both can do, but not at the expense of other, more consistent hitters and better defenders. Who'd have though LH would be such a problem on the Cards for playing time???!!!
Bumbles maybe more of an across the stats solid hitter, while UniKKKorn trends towards the 2 outcomes hitting style. both valuable but both can't be on the field at the same time as the Cards stand right now.
