Oli still hasn't learned how to set a lineup.
1. Lars Nootbaar (L) ~ LF
2. Brendan Donovan (L) ~ 2B
3. Willson Contreras (R) ~ 1B
4. Ivan Herrera (R) ~ C
5. Alec Burleson (L) ~ DH
6. Nolan Arenado (R) - 3B
7. Jordan Walker (R) ~ RF
8. Victor Scott (L) - CF
9. Masyn Winn (R) - SS
Hey, I’ll give him credit for putting Noot back at leadoff where he should be At least he has Noot, Donovan, and Contreras in the top 3 names, just the last 2 being flipped. Herrera should definitely be in the top 4 or 5 hitters though, I completely agree. Really it’s a lineup that I can’t complain too much about, which is a great improvement over last year.

For sure but we have to acknowledge M. Winn's struggles this spring really gave him no choice, Noot is a no-brainer.

Its both hilarious and sad that Donovan is our 3 hitter.
Worse 3 hitter in the league?
I wouldn’t go there. 9 teams had a SLG% below .400 from their 3 hitters last year, including us thanks to Goldy, Nado, and Gorman. Donovan had a .417 SLG% last year and his OPS would have been pretty much league average for 3 hitters. Sure he’s not an ideal 3 hitter, though, I’d prefer Contreras hit 3rd and Herrera 4th with Nado 5th.

We might get 25-30HR between our 3 and 4 hitters
And they should produce what? 55-60.
Ah…..the good ole days when Goldy and NA could hit…..and MO didn’t supplement to make a run…..if only we’d have it so goood

Ah, yes, Opening Day, a hallmark of spring. And new beginnings.
I generally like the lineup. And I like this defensive alignment, except I kind of wish Walker and Noot would switch positions. But I understand the familiarity thing with Walker, I guess.
And I don't know what the thinking is for Gorman. I guess we shall see.
LF - Burleson
RF - Nootbaar
DH - Walker
Slightly better defense and lets our big hitting prospect just focus on his main job.

You know, I like the looks of that lineup! Still wish Contreras was hitting 3rd instead of 2nd and Herrera was 4th or 5th, but still, I like it. Lars hitting leadoff will mean he will have more PAs leading off this year than last year after inning 1!
Scott should be the lead off hitter, eventually. A speedy, base stealing table setter. Then Donovan 2 and Contreras 3 in the lineup.
He needs to prove he can hit at the MLB level before he's a lead off hitter. Time will tell....

That's not a bad idea to help get Walker's bat going.

Nope
I'm actually shocked they didn't start M. Mikolas in the opener.

Yes, in theory, that would make good sense. However when you have a manager that doesn't believe in stealing bases, fast runners and "table setters" are irrelevant.
Opening Day 2025, 11am. If anyone wants to see images I might take a few. Office wasn't down here until June last season so it's kind of a cool, new experience for me.
