Hope not, as that flu can be pretty severe when people contract it, but more likely a flu similar to what went thru the Illini BB team a month or so ago. Speaking of the bird flu, thousands of dead sandhill cranes (aka rib-eyes of the sky) in Indiana recently from the bird flu. Let's hope the bird flu doesn't mutate into something more transmissible between humans.
As far as skinnier people being more susceptible to the flu OR, I'm 5'11' and 175 lbs, similar to Betts size w/o the talent, lol.
Guess I've had the flu before, but I'd be talking decades ago, and my wife was a school nurse who saw lots of sick kids every school day.

175 to 150 is a big % loss for anybody, and especially for a pro athlete like you said. Surely they find a reason soon. Scary.
As for Lynn, lol, but do hope he can lose some weight when he quits playing, like some NFL players do, which helps extend their lives much more often than not.

Whatever Mookie has got, he looks closer to taking to bed than playing a full season.

When a player misses a single game for 'flu-like symptoms, I always think hangover.

Norovirus was sweeping across the country a month or two ago. Thats the same hand washing bug etc that makes entire cruise ships sick way back before covid.

The United States has the most expensive healthcare system in the world, but it ranks last in terms of performance when compared to other countries such as Australia, Canada, France, Germany, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland, and the UK. The US is last or near last in terms of access, efficiency, and equity. And #1 in cost.
